[Elecraft] K3 frequencie calibration

[Elecraft] K3/100 low output power
It was discussed few days ago about a problem of low power output on the k3 sometimes – bu i don´t remember the solution. Well i had noticed that issue during day by day operation and solved after a turn on-off-on. But this weekend during the ARRL, it happened many times. The radio went to 5w only or so. Only once i saw an error on the lcd: ERR TXG. I found a “solution”: on the k3 utility: re-calibrate the radio w/ a dummy load. Anyone could help on that? Re: [Elecraft] Older K3/100s can be updated to avoid possible "ERR12V" problem
I´m not pretty sure but mine was Oct. 2010 but the problem was exactly the same except for the msg error. I didn´t see any but i tried to put more than 12w but no way. I went into the menu to check if the PA was enable and yes. After shut down it was normal agn. As i stopped radio after that for the Hamcation visit, i don´t know what will happens next. We discovered that in some climates the tin plating can eventually corrode, reducing voltage to the PA module, especially when operated at high duty cycle. This can result in an "ERR 12V" warning ("check circuit breaker") and the amplifier going into bypass mode. Power output drops to 12 watts max in this case. In some cases the power is temporarily restored after turning the K3 off and back on. The cure is to replace the tin-plated contacts with new ones which have gold plating. [Elecraft] K3 serial cable to PC
Hello Elecrafters After a 10 days trip i turned on my K3 and it was "blocked". No buttons working, no rx, nothing. Only the displays were working, on the lcd the msg: VOX=OFF and a continuous beep. So after a few turn on/off i decided go to EEINT (reset the radio). Well after that i opened the K3 utility to start the configs again. It was also not working. I tested the port and it was ok but the attempts to connect w/ the radio failed. Not even the msg "new hardware found" came up. I was using the KUSB cable (FTDI). I decided to try another cable (PROLIFIC) after delete all old drivers and install it again.. It did recognize the new driver but still no conection w/ the radio. Any clue of what is going on here? Anyone had the same trouble? Any way to test if the radio is damaged ? Everything was turned off and disconected during my trip. Tnx in advance. [Elecraft] RX antenna (K3)
Hello i´m considering a rx antenna for the K3. As i do not have space for big systems like beverage, etc, i´m thinking about this one from DX Eng.: <http://www.dxengineering.com/Parts.asp?ID=2190&PLID=220&SecID=79&DeptID =12&PartNo=DXE-ARAV3-1PE> http://www.dxengineering.com/Parts.asp?ID=2190&PLID=220&SecID=79&DeptID= 12&PartNo=DXE-ARAV3-1PE Wich is a vertical one and i have space to put up 2 of them if needed. What you guys think? It´s not a very free space and i have 90ft from my TX antennas (lowest is 80m band). I´m expecting less noise on the lower bands, and try the diversity rx on K3. What you guys think ? Tnx in advance. [Elecraft] RES: K3 filter options
Tnx everybody for the answers I´ll for the 2.7 / 1.8 / 400 / 250hz 73´s PY2ADR -Mensagem original- De: Joe Subich, W4TV [mailto:li...@subich.com] Enviada em: segunda-feira, 3 de janeiro de 2011 19:54 Para: elecraft@mailman.qth.net Cc: Adriano Assunto: Re: [Elecraft] K3 filter options Like Dave and Jim I would recommend 2.7/1.8/400/200 along with a 13 KHz (FM) filter if needed. I have tried the 1.5 KHz narrow SSB filter and find to too tight in nearly all conditions ... the 1.8 KHz will be used more often and the 1.5 provides very little added benefits in really crowded conditions. I find the 400 Hz filters (measured bandwidth 420 - 450 Hz) to be significantly better than the 500 Hz, 5 pole filters (measured 480 to 490 Hz) and the 200 Hz filter is a useful "narrow" filter when needed compared to the "250 Hz" filter which measures more than 350 Hz at the - 6dB points. With 2.8/1.8/400/200 Hz, my only wish is that there were three more slots or at least that I could use the 13 KHz filter for AM and ESSB transmit (without resorting to calling the 13 KHz filter a 6 KHz filter). 73, ...
