[Elecraft] K1 Intermittent Frequency Instability
My 40 and 20 meter K1 has developed intermittent frequency instability and sometimes complete loss of ability to tune (frequency display jumps and stays on 68.0 nominal on 40 and 63.0 nominal on 20). Lightly “mechanically agitating” the circuit board just behind the front panel will bring it back into stable operation, but any sort of movement (I run it QRP mobile in a Tacoma 4x4) will throw it out of whack again. Three modes - normal stable, squiggly unstable, and locked at nominal 68 or 63 above 7.0 or 14.0 as noted above. Seems like a bad solder joint or solder whisker somewhere. Any suggestions on where to look? K1 S/N 0291. Re: [Elecraft] Just a Thought
I have been running K1 0291 for around 7 years now on 40 and 20 meters almost exclusively QRP Mobile. Have worked all over the world with this setup using only the K1 and Hamstick or Hamstick clone whips, mainly on 40. Just dabbled in the CW SS a couple of weeks ago with this setup for about 8 hours and made 99 QSOs in 45 sections including KH6 on 40. Have worked over 70 sections in past CW SS dabbling. I love the K1 QSK! [Elecraft] K1 Loose Control Knobs
I have been using my K1 mobile for about a year and a half now, and am noticing that the 3 main controls - volume, RIT/XIT, and the main tuning control are now fairly loose and wiggle about a bit when I am operating them. They don't seem to be moving together like the circuit board that they are mounted on is loose, but I may be wrong on that. Any ideas on tightening them up? I did not build this radio, so I am not too familiar with what goes on inside it yet. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
