Andy, yes indeed I had a closer look and it seems that the left pin on P68A is by factory. I have found now the circuit at the elecraft ftp server. Found out also that there is a brocken pin at the PA board at jumper at P68A male connector. This brocken pin still remains in the according female connector. OK it was the backside fuse I pulled it in now. When turning now the power knob K3 is switching off, voltage on ps is going down and K3 PA unit is getting quick vry hot. [Elecraft] Power can be set only to 12W on 100W version
Hi all, suddenly I can set the power of my K3/100W version with the power knob on shortwave only to max 12W and on 6m only to 8W. That all happened when I was operating on shortwave the K3 got's suddenly very hot. Hope that the finals did not shot. I checked the KPA3 setting it is on "nor". [Elecraft] HI SIG
Hi all, last evening I switched on my K3 and got direct "HI SIG" in the display. I dsconnected all cables but still the same. K3 is not RXing anything anymore. Strange thing is that the morning I was operating my K3 (serial # 5776) as normal and switched off after. 4 days before I updated firmware to latest one but had no problem last days when operating. Hi all, I used my K3 only with transverter on 2m. Now the 6m season is starting and I connected it to my 6m beam. On 50 MHz as I pushed TX I got "high SWR" message. K3 SWR meter showing 3:1 bad SWR. I measured with my mini vna analyser the antenna and it is perfect. SWR real is 1:1 So it must be a failure in the K3 ? Yes I have a tuner build in BUT thought SWR must be perfect without tuning ? Or is it necessary to use tuner if build in ? [Elecraft] Filter installing question
Hi all, I have a small understanding problem in using filters. I installed a additional SSB filter 2.1KHz/8pol on row 3. (1. is FM and 2. is 2.7KHz). I configured new 2.1KHz filter FL3_BW and set it with number 3 to 2.10, FL3_Freq to 0.00, FL3_GN to 0db, FL3_ON to YES _What I do not understand:_ On menu FL_TX_SB is now FL2 so I TX now with FL2(2.7KHz) ? Do I have to switch there on FL3 to transmit with FL3 (2.1KHz) ? Can I switch between filters in operating ? Is it then only in RX between 2.1KHz and 2.7KHz filter ? Now I recognised that I have a small noise on modulation like a fan that gives me some power output when I just push PTT. OK I have in my shack 2 additional fans for cooling the PA so I switched them of. The noise is lower but still there. and there are no other noise sources. So my setting for the HEIL headset are: - MIC: 25 - CMR: 25 - MIC SEL: RP + HIGH BIAS - MIC+LIN: OFF Do you have any idea if I can change setting to cancel that noise ? [Elecraft] Transverter + K3 power problem
Hi all, I discover a problem using a external transverter with the K3 - this machine is going to cost me nerves ! I use a external transverter for 144 MHz using XVTR out/in break out BNC. When I'm in ssb mode and push xmit "without connected any microphone" my transverter shows power up to his max. of 60w. When I switch K3 monitor on -> level 50 there is a noise like a motor from a driving car. So there must be Pout from K3. Also I can't regulate the power on the K3 for driving the transverter. Same is in DATA-A mode. In FM mode this effect is not there. I checked all I could in the config menu but did not any fault setting. As I use a sequencer to protect my LNA's I will use also the RX inhibit function. The sequencer will provides 13VDC in RX mode to the ACC connector at pin 7.
