[Elecraft] K3 AM Power
Hi group, i observed a strange behaviour regading the power-setting in AM mode. When i switch to FM, transmit with 100W, switch to AM and press PTT again the K3 produces 100W dead-key. When i then adjust the power from 100W to 99W and back again to 100W it delivers the expected level of 25W dead-key. Do someone have the same behaviour of his K3? I don`t know when this issue started, i use the latest FW 4.67 73 Michael -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/K3-AM-Power-tp7578731.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Elecraft] K3: Poor sound on FM
Hello Lyle, that makes sense. Here in Germany CTCSS is not so important, we use the 1750Hz Tone to key up our repeaters. It would be a nice feature if the user could decide by himself if he want to hear down to 0Hz on FM. Maybe a switch in the menu could solve this. Or adjustable bw like in other modes. [Elecraft] K3: Poor sound on FM
Hello, from my point of view the K3 is one of the best sounding radios on AM and SSB. But i observed a lack of quality on FM-the sound is very thin compared to AM and SSB. Re: [Elecraft] Is DVR audio really getting equalized and compressed?
Wow, these are very confusing answers. I have had the same question and talked to Lyle (the DSP Guru). But now to your questions: 1. Does the DVR playback audio really pass through TX EQ and audio compression before being transmitted? YES, IT DOES !!! 2. If so, why does it sound so different from live audio, as I hear it my headphones in TX Test mode? See answer 1. 3. Is there a separate audio gain setting for the DVR output that I'm missing? Hello Harry, i am a lucky owner of a K3 since 2 years. I have had no experience with Elecraft before, but after i bought the K3 i was very curious and bought 2 additional K2`s. After some mods, i have taylored them to my needs and-what should i say- i will never give them away. In my opinion, they are one of the best analog radios ever being build. For me, i`ve never done the comparision of QSO`s per $. The only thing i can say is that both radios perform very well, under critical condx and the for the "real world daily use". I often switch beween them by my daily preferences. If you have the chance, keep both of them in the future and enjoy the Elecraft experience, you won`t regret it. 73 Michael -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/K3-vers-K2-questions-that-I-keep-seeimg-tp4410483p4416634.html Sent from the [K3] mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Elecraft] K2 Power monitoring issue.
Hello Joe, i have the same problem here. At first there was always full power out at all levels. In my first debugsession i found that D16 and D17 were dead, also the swr-bridge in the KAT. After replacing the diodes i have the same problem like you now, will fix it in my next debugsession. The voltage at U5 and U6 is discribed in the manual of the KPA 100 (i belive 0-5V, depending on powerlevel). It seems like the way from the bridge to VRFDET is bad by a second fault (in my case). 73 Michael Joe Wilkowski wrote: > > Folks, I thought I would pose this problem to the group. [Elecraft] Transmit through AM-Filter
Hello, just for a test: declare the 6kHz filter (if installed) to be a 2.8 kHz filter (FLx BW) and then set FLTX SB to that filter. Enjoy the great TX-sound ! 73 Michael -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Transmit-through-AM-Filter-tp18128573p18128573.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
