Re: [Elecraft] RX antenna (K3)

2011-01-11 Thread GREG FICHER
The DXE NCC1 is also a nice unit that gives the ability to adust the phase
between two rx antennas. I use one with two of the clifton labs active
antennas and also installed two of Jack's new HP filters in the NCC1 (It has
provisions for filters but DXE decided not to build the filters).

Re: [Elecraft] Data modes issue

2011-01-10 Thread GREG FICHER
Had a similar problem once. Somehow the mixer volume setting for the
signalink was reduced. It needs to be turned all the way up.

I'm not home right now but go to control panel, audio, it probably shows
whatever the default soundcard is on your system. Change that to the USB
Audio Codec. Open the playback settings and make sure the slider is all the
way to the top for volume.

Don't forget to change the default back to your system soundcard or your
computer audio will come out from the Signalink.

Turned out the wrong sound device was selected for transmit in DM780.

Re: [Elecraft] AFSK

2010-12-17 Thread GREG FICHER
Wes is correct. Please make sure you check:

1. Baud rate on the K3 should be 45 (if that is what your software is
using)
2. If you have the mark freq set to 915 Hz (pitch) on the K3 then your
soundcard software for RTTY must also be 915 Hz.

[Elecraft] SO2R stuff for sale

2010-12-07 Thread GREG FICHER
I will probably kick myself later for doing this but right now I feel the
need to downsize my station some. That means no more SO2R. So I have the
following items for sale:

K3/100#3459 with newer DSP board, KXV3 and 2.8kHz and 400Hz 8-pole
filters.$2100

YCCC SO2R box plus (4-radio setup) with cables for two K3s$275

Bandpass filters...FM6 switch matrix with ICE filters 160-10M contest bands
and all the interconnect cables. TWO complete sets. $800 for both

Custom KK1L dual band decoder box. See the pic on my QRZ page. This has TWO
complete boards installed. Controls two bandpass filters AND 2x6 external
antenna switch. Includes FSK keying interface for two radios. Horizontal
LEDs show the status of the bandpass filters and the vertical LEDs are for
the antenna selections (auto or manual). Ask for more details. $325

Re: [Elecraft] Numbers, Numbers, Numbers

2010-12-02 Thread GREG FICHER
Playing devil's advocate here folks have often lauded the K3 for being at
the top of the Sherwood list so it was fine to "go by the numbers" then. So
we should not discount them now. To me...the two radios seem almost dead
even. That saidI still prefer the K3 by far due to it's modular design,
ease of repair (simple board swapping), service, feature growth and the
dedication of the owners and engineers who brought this fine radio to life.

I suspect that when customers report glitches on the FT5K it will be quite
awhile before new FW is available for download.

Ohthere's the money thing too. :)
