[Elecraft] K2: RS-232, TX but no RX

2011-03-24 Thread Jason Reber
Greetings;
I have an unusual RS-232 communication issue with a K2, and I'm curious if
anyone might have a suggestion.
The K2 sends the FA (VFO Freq. A) message as expected when the Port Test
is executed from the menu system. However, the K2 does not respond to RS-232
commands from the PC.
I traced the signal through the K2 serial cable, K2IO RS-232 to TTL board,
and all the way to Controller Board U6 pin 26 (RxD). The signal is getting
there, and looks great on the O-scope; Exactly as a 4800 baud signal should
look. This tells me that the PIC 18C452 is getting a good command
(electrically speaking), but is simply not responding to the command.
Obviously, I've verified that Port is set to ON. Are there any other
settings, firmware issues, or anything else that I might not be aware of?

It seems very strange that the K2 will send the test message with no
problems when the Port Test function is used, but that it won't respond to
commands that are getting to the PIC RX Data pin with no issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason

[Elecraft] WTB: K2/100

2011-03-01 Thread Jason Reber
Greetings;
I'm looking to purchase a clean K2/100. The following options are preferred,
but not necessary:
KNB2 (noise blanker)
KAF2 (audio filter/clock)
KSB2 (SSB option)
FDIMP (finger dimple)
Only interested in a rig that is fully functional, meaning full power out on
all bands, no alignment issues etc.
Please let me know if you have a K2/100 you are interested in selling.
Thanks-
Jason  AC7JW

[Elecraft] K3 Line In issue

2009-04-13 Thread Jason Reber
Greetings everyone;

I just got the new K3 assembled, and I'm really enjoying it. However, I
have an issue with the line in not working, and I wonder if anyone
else has seen this with a recently purchased K3.
I'm trying to use the line in for PSK 31, but the input is not
working. I've read previous posts, so I've ensured that the MIC SEL is
set to Line In, and that the mic gain for Line In is is not at zero.
When I move the cable to the rear panel Mic Input, and set the MIC SEL
to rP.L, everything works fine.

I've tried the released firmware from January, and the current beta
firmware, and neither helps. Is there anything else I might be missing?

Thanks,

Jason  AC7JW
