[Elecraft] Central Tendency of K2 PCB Solder Pad Widths?

2009-10-28 Thread Jeff T. Casey
Hi gang,

This document on the Elecraft web site,
http://bit.ly/solderingtips
says,
[Soldering iron] tip width will normally be in the range of 1/32 (0.79mm)
through 1/8 (3.2mm), depending upon the width of the pad to which you are
soldering. The width of the tip selected should be about 75% to 90% of the
width of the pad.

What would you estimate to be the median or modal (or just typical ;-) solder
pad width on the K2's circuit boards?

Or, to be more direct, which of the following soldering tip widths would be
best for use in building a K2: 0.80 mm, 1.19 mm, 1.60 mm, or 2.40 mm?

Or am I just splitting hairs?

Thanks very much, 73 72,
Jeff

2007-12-17 Thread Jeff T. Casey
Hi gang,

As part of my continuing effort to gather the funds
for a new K3, I now have for sale an Oak Hills
Research OHR 100A 40 meter, 5 watt CW transceiver that
works properly, is in mint condition, and comes with
the manual and fused power cord. Note that the 100A
has both RF and AF gain controls, a receive bandwidth
control (400 to 1200 Hz), a transmitter power control
(from a few mW up to 5W), and covers 7.000-7.070 MHz.
The rig's features, specs, and some photos are given
here:
http://www.ohr.com/ohr100a.htm

The price is $80 including shipping within the U.S.
Payment must be by U.S. Postal Service money order
only.

Please email me off-list if you're interested.

Thanks very much and Happy Holidays,

Hi gang,

Someone who is registered with Wikipedia should add
the Elecraft K3 to this list:

[Elecraft] K2 For Sale

2007-09-19 Thread Jeff T. Casey
Hi gang,

I have for sale a QRP K2 with all available options
installed (except the 100 watt PA). It includes the
KSB2, K160RX, K60XV, KNB2, KDSP2, KAT2, KIO2, KBT2,
Heil hand microphone purchased from Elecraft, and all
manuals. The serial number is 0821. However, all of
the upgrades recommended by Elecraft to bring the rig
up to date were done by none other than Don Wilhelm,
W3FPR, in February 2007. Don also checked out the rig
and all option modules for proper operation, aligned
everything, and gave it all a clean bill of health.
Now, in Don's words, it should be electrically
equivalent to a new K2. Don also built the KDSP2 and
K60XV modules. Don's report and invoice are available
upon request.

The radio is in like new cosmetic condition. Photos
are available upon request. I am the original owner
and radio has always been in a non-smoking
environment.

The radio and all option modules work properly, except
that the KAT2 autotuner has recently developed one
issue: I find that I have to retune the KAT2 (by
pressing Tune) each time I switch to 80 or 160 meters,
even though I have not changed antennas. The KAT2
works as it should on all other bands.

The price is $1075 including insured shipping to any
U.S. destination. Payment by U.S. Postal money order
only. Note that the current new, unbuilt price for
all of the above kits would total over $1500.

Please reply off-list.

Thanks very much 73,
Jeff

I neglected to mention that the KAF2 I have for sale
was checked out and aligned by Don Wilhelm, W3FPR, in
Feb. 2006.
