[Elecraft] KX3 encoders
Good afternoon all: Gang: I need some advise from anyone familiar with the KX3 control board. I replaced the encoder for AF/RF on my radio and while doing that, I managed to lift the trace that runs under that encoder. Can anyone tell me where that trace goes ??? It run's under the encoder and the capacitors that are between Z2 and Z3. I pulled up the schematic and that trace should be the SWCOM. If that's correct, Then it's in series with pin 2 of all 4 encoders. That being the case, it becomes an easy fix below the board. Before I do anything like that, I wanted to check with you guys and make sure I'm correct. [Elecraft] KX3 volume control inop
Good morning all: I'm having a rough day today and I need some advise. Got my KX3 out this morning to work WES and found the volume control is not working. My volume is maxed at 46 on the display and I can not turn it down. Pushing the knob does change it from AF to RF and holding it down does change to monitor. Volume dose nothing. The radio has been stored for some time inside a Pelican case. I hooked it to my power supply with 13.8 volts applied and it made no difference. I did remove all power long enough to replace the internal batteries. they were showing low charge ( 7.6 volts ) when I took it out of the case. Just curious if I've hit a button or something that is causing this behavior. I'm not finding anything in the manual that describes this issue. Didn't find anything on the internet relative to it. SO, thought I would ask you folks. Anyone run into this before? Good Morning Don: I did as you instructed. On 40 meters the watt meter is reading 120 watts. I have 1 LED showing on the tuner. The display on the K2 shows 52 wattsand 1.1-1 SWR As I change bands, the results change. The higher bands are showing less power out and SWR up to 1.5-1.. The number of LED'sshowing on the tuner agree with the SWR indicated on the K2's display. The tuner does not attempt to tune. I do not hear the relays changingas I move from band to band. Entering " TUNE " mode is the sameas entering transmit with my straight key. I have to tap my key or one of the button on the K2 to exit TUNE. Where does this take us ?? Thank you Don and Happy New Year: Jerry N0JRN First put an in-line wattmeter and a dummy load on the KAT100 ANT1 connector, set the power to 50 watts and then enter TUNE. 1) does the tuner tune so no LEDs are lit on the KAT100? If no, how many are lit? 2) what is the power indicated on the wattmeter (it should be about 20 watts)? [Elecraft] KAT100 IN EC2 ENCLOSURE
Good evening all: I'm looking for some advise. My KAT100 / KPA100 are in an EC2 enclosure next to my K2. I was changing bands this evening and neglected to changeantenna's when moving from 80 to 40 meters. I hit the " TUNE " on the K2 and my KAT100 triedto tune. It ran through the scale a couple of times beforeI could shut it off. Now when I hit the "TUNE" button, the radio goes intotransmit, but the tuner isn't tuning anything. Normal operation the tuner would tune and go back to receive. It doesn't change back to receive unless I hit the tunebutton again. SO, the tuner quit. I remember reading about a transistor that fails and causes this issue but I don't remember which one it is. SO, looking for some information. Any idea's what I'm looking for ??? Good afternoon all: I have a new in the box LP Pan adaptor for sale. It's built for K2. I built it but it's never been hooked up. LED comes on when poweredup and it has all the correct voltages in the right spots. When I built this adaptor, the EMU0202 sound card was the preferredcard. the 0202 didn't work with Windows 7. With no sound card, I couldn't calibrate the adaptor. SO, it's built and ready. Just match itup with your sound card, follow the directions in the LP Pan manual to calibrate to that card and have fun. IF you looking at one of these, you know what they cost.
