[Elecraft] Wanted: KFL1-2 Additional 2-Band Filter Module for K1

2007-10-31 Thread Jim Larsen - AL7FS

I am looking for a KFL1-2, Additional 2-Band Filter Module. I bought a 2
band K1. With one more 2 band module, I should be all set. I have 80
and 20 meters but suspect I can change any used module I buy to the bands
I need.

Does anyone have a 2 band module lying around unused, unloved, and
unwanted? I will give it a good home and take good care of it. :-)

Please contact me direct at my email.

Thank you.

Welcome to the club, Steve. :-)

I couldn't hear even one signal so that made it tough to work anyone in either
contest. It was better the weekend before when I managed ONE contact in each
of three contests over the holiday weekend. Whew! Better days are coming,
though.

I tuned around several times and never heard any signals. I may not have
listened at the right time.

At least the cycle is bottoming out. This propagation reminds me why there
seems to more of a demand for Alaska after we come out of the bottom of the cycle.

[Elecraft] RIP - Info 080 - AL7FS K2 Tango Uniform

2004-07-27 Thread Jim Larsen - AL7FS
Well, next weekend I get to break out the K2 manual again. After two years of
flawless operation my K2 chose to provide me with Info 080 when I turned it
on. 456 reset did nothing to fix it so I get to read the manual further.

Wish me luck.

[Elecraft] Pacificon - Looking for Hotel Roomate.

2004-07-10 Thread Jim Larsen - AL7FS

Greetings from Alaska,

1998 and 2001 were Pacificon years for me and now it is three years
later...2004. It looks like I am going to come down for Pacificon and I would
like to find someone to share a room on Friday and Saturday nights. I don't
smoke and don't drink so I am looking for at least a non-smoker to share.

Anyone out there want to share costs? I could just stay in Richmond at my
sister-in-law's (my wife will be there) but I think Pacificon will be more fun
if one stays on site. I will probably be in the SF area for 5-7 days.

PACIFICON 2004 will be on October 15, 16, and 17th. - At the San Ramon
Marriott - 2600 Bishop Drive San Ramon, CA 94583

I plan to make a reservation in the next week or so.

[Elecraft] KL7AA will be operating Field Day

2004-06-25 Thread Jim Larsen - AL7FS
If you get a chance, listen for KL7AA, the Anchorage Amateur Radio Club, in
Field Day. We will be on SSB and CW and over time on all bands that will
sustain contacts...80-10 although I don't expect much from anything above 20
meters. We will be operating 5 stations to provide the opportunity for all
amateurs no matter what skill level to participate.

Satellite Station
CW
GOTA (Get on the Air) Good for beginning Hams and those wanting to learn more
about Amateur Radio

DIGITAL PSK31 and Packet
SSB

We will be running triband beams on our ARES Power/Tower trailers with the
antennas up about 40 feet. We will be using tall verticals for 80/40.

AL1G, Corliss (Alaska GAP station) and her husband, Frank, KL7FH, will be
managing and operating the CW station for the event.

We could have up to five stations on the air on different modes and the Red
Cross is going to set up their RED CROSS Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) on
site and operate with us.

Should be fun.

KL0WN is also a GAP.

Re: [Elecraft] Experiment: can we create an instant "band opening" on 40meters?

2004-06-11 Thread Jim Larsen - AL7FS
Now this is something I could get interested in if it was on 20 meters. For
some strange reason your signals on 40 meters are just not making the haul
from Seattle to Anchorage (1440 miles) or even further during the day. I
would rather use the phrase time-period but that is just words. And I would
even pledge to use my K2. :-)

How about we try this at a pre-set time - I won't pick a time at this time.
Also how how about we try it on a weekend say this Saturday and Sunday
(twice because I forget a lot of things).

I like the idea, maybe we can start a movement.
