Re: [Elecraft] K3 w/ straight key

2015-06-24 Thread Joe Harris
Hi Jim,

I don't know that you would have to turn off the keyer, per se. Just plug
in the straight key to the "key" jack and leave your paddles plugged in to
the "paddle" jack. Then, either would work.

[Elecraft] Building an older K2

2017-12-23 Thread Joe Harris
Hello all,

It's been years since I did any serious kit building, and I've been looking
for a good winter project for a while now. So, when I found an unbuilt K2,
KPA100, and KAT100-1 as part of an estate sale, I jumped on it.

Are there any potential pitfalls I should be aware of, or is there anything
I should be concerned about when assembling a 15-year old kit? All the
boxes have 2002 purchase dates noted on them. The K2 is SN 3172, so I know
it has the Rev "B" RF board.

Thanks & 73,

Re: [Elecraft] Another K3-SignaLink question

2014-03-27 Thread Joe Harris
Ed,

See page 20 of the K3 manual, in the Line Out setting. You can set the Line
Out level in Config, or it can be set to =PHONES, which is what it sounds
like you have it set to.

[Elecraft] Slight tx noise?

2011-06-24 Thread Joe Harris
Hello,

I have had a K3/100 for a few months and I'm loving it.

My question concerns a barely audible, very high-pitched whine coming from
the rig on transmit. Actually, it still happens when I'm in TX test mode. I
don't believe it is the fans. I searched the reflector archives and didn't
see anyone else mentioning it. Is this the norm, or am I blessed with a
unique feature?

Re: [Elecraft] K3: KPA100 Squeal

I have very similar symptoms in my K3/100 (SN 5284) that I assembled in
March. It makes the sound even if I am in TX test mode. Again, no
performance issues, just a slightly bothersome squeal / whine.
