[Elecraft] KX1 #2213
Evening, I just finished KX1 #2213, long overdue (I got it in June '09), but c'est la vie. It's a bit too damp out to put up an antenna to test with. I'll get the Auto ATU and 30/80m modules built next weekend most likely, assuming it rains as forecast. Anyway, I was wondering what the general consensus re the best battery type to use? Lithium or re-chargeable? [Elecraft] KX1 Inductor
Hi, I've a question about L9, in the manual it states that its a Micro Size. I only seem to have a Mini size L9, and it looks a bit on the large side. I checked the latest manual and it still says Micro in the Manual. Thoughts? I probably won't be back next year, but I would volunteer now to spend time on a stand the year after (assuming I can persuade 2 others to travel). Weather was fantastic, event itself was very well organised from what I could see. Thoroughly enjoyable. [Elecraft] Odd behaviour
Hi, Firstly, I'm not generally an SSB operator (in fact I've not done a whole lot of operating since May, but thats another story), but today I took K3 #2184 out for SSB Field Day, MCU v2.05 FPF v1.10 DSP1 v2.6 DSP2 v2.6 DVR v1.03 Anyway, Issue 1. I was using the DVR, and when I selected just 1 play of a memory, and 'late' in that playback, decided to press and hold the same button. At the end of the first playback, the K3 took a long time to switch back to rx (even though it had finished transmitting). Issue 2. While in the 4-5 second gap between DVR transmissions, I was using the sub receiver to tune for multipliers, I would have liked to have been able to see the sub receiver frequency now and again (possibly when the K3 was tx'ing). I would be interested to hear what anyone else thinks of this. Now, hands up, it's the first time I've really used it for SSB, so both of these could be operator error. Oh, and I did have a lot of fun! Um mine (2184) arrived earlier than I was expecting, about 6 weeks actually. Ok, I assume though that this will make the (moved) filters slightly asymmetric then in the passband. Also I found this post from Wayne that says it's ok :) http://www.mail-archive.com/elecraft@mailman.qth.net/msg71951.html Thanks John __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Elecraft] K3 Filter Gain question.
Hi, #2184 was recently fitted with a sub receiver (very nice). It occured to me that I never sat down to figure out how best to set the gain figures for the filters. I have Main: KFL3B-FM KFL3A-6K KFL3A-2.7K (-77) KFL3A-500 (-73) Sub: KFL3A-2.7K (-76) KFL3A-500 (-75) The handbook suggests 1-2db for 500Hz, and I've seen posts warning against using excessive gain. Any suggestions? Also, using diversity receive on the same antenna, the signal seems to 'move' slightly more than once per second between my headphones. I assume this is a feature of diversity and the different signal paths through the radio, as I've never had a radio with diversity receive before. [Elecraft] K3 #2184
Evening, It arrived Friday, opened the box, and nearly died of fright looking at all the little (and not so little packages). Weather wasn't great over the weekend, so I've just finished building it. As my first large "Kit", I thought it the instructions were quite good. However i'm stuck on one small issue. I purchased a KTCX03-1 TXCO, and following the instructions for Calibration procedure no 3. I'm not able to get anywhere. Any suggestions? Tomorro, I will update the firmware and try again. I'm just getting used to the novelty of my 20m dipole tuning from 80m to 6m. That sure is some ATU.
