Re: [Elecraft] [K3 Remote] Scrolling VFO B Message "UPDATE K3 UTILITY"
I also use a K3-K3 RemoteRig system. Haven't had the problem Rick describes, but have had the system suddenly turn off the receiver on all bands. Power-cycled and no change (tx functions all work). Accidentally hit the shift knob and suddenly audio returned! Happened a second time a few days later and just slight movement on the shift returned to normal! I did note that the shift function had dramatically and mysteriously moved. The first time this happened I did upgrade to latest OS, but did not upgrade the RRC boxes. Anyone else see anything like this? 73 John, N0IJ In a message dated 1/25/2016 11:53:09 P.M. I power-cycled the rigs and all was well. I've had a number of other, similarly puzzling but different startup glitches recently involving an E message in VFO A and a loss of audio, also repairable by power cycling. I suspect it's a comm glitch, possibly not specifically related to K3 Remote components, but report it here in case it helps efforts to make the product more robust in the face of such errors. 73, /Rick N6XI __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to jbaumga...@aol.com __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
[Elecraft] PTT/VOX
Does anyone know of a way to get the K3 to power up in vox mode, instead of ptt. I'm forever powering up and starting to send cw, with nothing happening. It does indicate "PTT" on the readout, but in that I'm using my two K3's in a remote system, I'm not always looking at the readout--usually turning on other stuff with the computer. Re: [Elecraft] K3: Upgrade or replace
I am using two K3's in my remote system. If I want to upgrade the syn boards, do I need to do the control radio as well as the remote radio? Also the remote radio has the sub receiver, which I use very infrequently, remotely. Do I still need to do both boards in that rig? Thanks. The difference is probably not measurable on the air. 4) a change in RF output devices in the KPA3 - difference TBD. The other change is the KIO3B which provides the option of an internal USB interface for radio control and USB CODEC (sound card). A traditional RS-232 interface is more flexible and a *high quality* external sound card or *well designed* audio interface *may* provide a somewhat lower noise floor (better SNR/dynamic range). Most users will probably not notice a performance boost unless they are using one of the notoriously dirty (cheap) amateur products. 73, ... I did that, and because 6M is important to me, I also bought the new KXV3B to get the new preamp. I had previously been using an outboard ARR GasFET preamp. 73, Jim K9YC __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to n...@elecraft.com __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to jbaumga...@aol.com __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
[Elecraft] Tin pins
I love my 2 K3's, but both are early units and I have had some problems with the tin connectors. I'm not sure at what number they upgraded to gold. I would suggest that if yours has the old tin connectors between the front panel and the RF board or between the base 10 watt rig and the 100 watt amp, it's not a question of if, it's when! Whenever the rig is apart or at the factory, change 'em out! Elecraft will supply the newer connectors. Re: [Elecraft] Has anyone ever ordered from Idiom Press?
Slava, I ordered their board about a year and a half ago and it came fairly promptly. Needed it for my remote station control. Works pretty well with a glitch or two. Does allow me to rotate remotely which is why I have it. More info available if needed. I'm really at a loss here... I ordered this RotorEZ board to give me a serial port on an older CDE HAM-IV rotor/control box. This was around March 31st time frame. Their website does say that sometimes order could take up to two weeks to ship. And that would be ok, except they don't reply to any e-mails or pick up the phone. I don't even know if they are still in business... I do see a charge on my card for April 11th, but even that is not for the full amount that i ordered. Still, no response, nothing... Is this how they operate normally? I'm hoping someone here had dealing with these people and can shed some light on this. Thanks in advance!
