[Elecraft] No RX or TX on K3
I lost both TX and RX on my K3. The P3 was still showing received signals on the display. Then the TX and RX came back. Then I lost it again. Then it resolved itself again. I am running 4.83 FW. I had not TXmitted at all. I was just listening to 10m. I only know that lost TX because I tried it when the RX went out. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any ideas on what to check? This happened Sat night. It has been fine since. [Elecraft] KRC2 Firmware/Power Problem
One of my KRC2s wipes the firmware when the power is removed from the unit. This never happens with my other unit. Any thoughts from the group? [Elecraft] RTTY Problem
I will try to explain as best as I can. When I put my K3 into RTTY mode it does not TX FSK. I get a single tone with no power out. Until I go into the menu and switch from 45baud FSK to say 31baud PSK and back to FSK? I know this has been discussed before but I have not seen any fixes in the newest versions of FW. Is there a FW fix coming for this issue? [Elecraft] P3 REF LVL
I may be mistaken but I thought there was a way for the REF LVL to automatically adjust itself to the bottom of the screen. When I change antennas I need to readjust the REF LVL to the bottom of the screen. I may be wrong on this and just dreamed it up in my head, but I thought I would check with the experts on the list. [Elecraft] KRC2 FIRMWARE FAILURE?
One of my KRC2s keeps dumping the firmware, about every two or three weeks. The LED starts with the ON/OFF blinking and will not work. I reload the firmware and all is fine for a bit. Has anybody else seen this issue? I have more than one and the others are fine. [Elecraft] Diversity RX and Speaker settings
When using Diversity RX is it better to set the SPKRs to 1 or 2? I typically leave my speakers set to "2" (main and sub). I was thinking that maybe in diversity that "1" may be a better choice. [Elecraft] K3: RTTY Audio Level vs SSB Problem?
I am not sure if I have an issue or not. When operating FSK the received station audio is extremely loud, this occurs even if I have the AF threshold just above minimum or zero audio. My SSB and CW audio seems normal or even a bit weak. Any ideas? Are there any CONFIG settings that may cause this? [Elecraft] K3 and WL in ARRL DX CW
The ability to send K3 commands from WL is great. I am a small fish in the contest ocean, but the ability to see signals on the P3 and the ability to set the K3 SPOT command via the key board was a bunch of fun and sure made tuning in stations a snap. Hats off to Elecraft and the WL folks. I am sure this is possible with other contest software that I am not familiar. [Elecraft] K3 Speaker Out? and P3 ?
Is it possible to direct the audio from the main Rx to the internal speaker (left channel audio) and the audio from the Sub Rx to an external speaker (right channel audio)? Is it possible to save the band (freq) to a menu FN button? I am fairly sure you cannot, but I thought I would ask anyway. [Elecraft] 2nd Receiver RF Protection
I was searching the archive tonight and read several emails regarding protecting the 2nd receiver while using a RX ant. However I did not find anything related to protecting the 2nd receiver when connected to the AUX jack. I do use a 419B band pass filter to protect it from my other transceiver. Are there any concerns when the 2nd receiver is connected to the AUX ant jack with the RF from the K3? [Elecraft] RX Ant Preamps and the K3 12v Accessory Jack
I had a thought for a future feature request. For those of us who use RX antennas (active and/or preamp). It would be really cool if the 12v output on the K3 could be triggered by the PTT. If the 12v output jack could be set in the menus to 0v (OFF) on PTT we could power our preamps via that jack and kill the power on TX. The K3 already has a built in delay for RF output to amplifiers which can be set in "ms" as needed. Most modern preamps go to ground when power is removed. This would be nice but I would assume that the 12v output is not under control of the firmware. Just a thought for future expansion. Take a look at the Heil website. All (most) Heil mics/headsets work best with a lot of gain and compression, at least more than you would probably use with stock mics. My compression is 25 and gain is 50. I receive many comments regarding the quality of the audio. [Elecraft] 2nd Receiver Perceived Problem
This may not make much sense but I installed the 2nd receiver and it appears that my NR is not working properly on either receiver. Listening on a PRO3 beside the K3 very strong signals sound much better on the Pro. The K3 is just loaded with noise. I have double checked everything (I think anyway). Even the most aggressive NR settings still contains noise. The problem is still there when I turn the SUB off. Any ideas? [Elecraft] 2nd Receiver Question
Does the second receiver have it's own antenna jack or do I need the ATU to get the second jack? Also how does the 2nd receiver handle overload from my transmitted signal? I have a modest station with 3 ground mounted verticals, no beams or towers. I just completed the CQ WPX RTTY contest. My score improved by about 35% over last year. The only change at my station during the past year was the K3. It decodes weak RTTY signals like a champ. Kudos to the K3 it is just a fantastic rig. You gotta love this radio! [Elecraft] K3-Ant Tuner Issue with RTTY
I use an external tuner with my K3. When I put the K3 in FSK mode to tune all is well. Then I operate CW or SSB and all is well. Then if I QSY and need to tune again when I switch the K3 back to FSK all I get is a low tone and no output. If I switch to PSK on the K3 then back to FSK all is well again. Has anyone else seen this issue? I maybe be doing something wrong, however I cannot get my K3 to operate RTTY in split mode. It will not allow me to put VFO B in the Data mode. SSB and CW work fine. Ideas?
