[Elecraft] K2 SSB Performance Improvement
Other K2 owners may be interested in this. After getting many reports of poor quality transmit audio with my K2 (using the Proset K2 Heil boom microphone and headset), I carried out the modifications described by G3RXQ which increase the lower cut off frequency of the microphone circuit on the KSB2. This involves changing C34 from 2.2uF to 1uF, C31 from 2.2uF to 1uF and C20 from 0.33uF to 0.1uF. Now, when I listen to my transmitted signal on another receiver, the audio now sounds much crisper with increased high frequency content. I have also had many comments on the high quality of my audio and even someone reporting BBC quality audio. Well done G3RXQ! I also spent considerable time trying to optimise the Tx BFO frequency by listening to my transmission on another receiver. After many hours of careful BFO adjustment I finally ended up with the exact BFO frequency settings recommended in the KSB2 manual. [Elecraft] Help. K2 noise level variation with band selected
I have noticed that as I change frequency bands on my K2 in SSB mode, the audio noise level changes in frequency content. On the five lower bands (3.5 to 18.2 MHz), the noise sounds typical for a 2.2 KHz audio bandwidth but on the three higher bands (21.0 to 28.8 MHz) it is predominantly high frequency with greatly reduced low frequency content. The appropriate sideband is correctly selected for each band, receiver sensitivity appears to be well within specification on all bands and the set works perfectly in all other respects. Could the band pass filters for the top three bands require adjustment? If anyone can explain why this is happening and suggest a fix (if one is actually necessary), it would be greatly appreciated Thanks for your help, Ray __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Elecraft] KPA 100 Bias Adjustment with Fan ON or OFF?
I'm setting the bias currents on my KPA 100 following the instructions at the top of page 51 of Appendix G Rev H. The paragraph states that 50 mA of the measured current increase is due to the fan running at low speed. However, in the earlier Fan Test section, the fan has been set to FAN nor mode and so should not be running with the heat sink at a room temperature of approximately 17 deg C. Am I missing something here? [Elecraft] MH2 and Proset K2 interchangeability
Hello, Can you please tell me if the MH2 hand microphone and Proset K2 boom headset are interchangeable without changing the jumpers on the microphone configuration block of my K2? [Elecraft] KPA 100 T2 Winding Problem
I'm constructing the KPA 100 and I'm having difficulty in threading the correct number of turns (4 loops of grey wire) onto the binocular coil former T2. I've managed it eventually but it was quite a struggle and I'm wondering if I've done something wrong! Has anyone else had this problem? [Elecraft] KPA 100 L16 and RFC1
I am constructing the KPA 100 and have just fitted L16 and RFC1 (both blue cores wound with 37 turns of 26 gauge wire). I am having difficulty getting the two toroids to sit securely on the PCB because the leads do not align with the holes in the PCB so preventing the toroids from being pulled tight against the board. The toroids seem quite wobbly and I am concerned that with shock and vibration, the wires will break. Any suggestions? How about a very small amount of epoxy adhesive between toroids and PCB taking care to avoid the windings?
