Re: [Elecraft] K144XV + K144RFLK issue
Hi Simon I use K3 with K144XV and K144RFLK with an external 10MHZ GPS locked signal adn have done so for 9 months or so now. I have never seen this characteristic you describe. I can leave it on GB3VHF beacon using JT65 / WSJT and it stays rock steady at 3Hz discrepancy all day long. I have never noticed any jumping you describe. 73 Roger - GW4WND -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/K144XV-K144RFLK-issue-tp7347913p7558708.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Elecraft] Breakthrough from 28MHz to 144Mhz
Hi All I was monitoring 144.370 today on the K3 with K144XV module installed when I heard a SSB sideband signal at about S2. Also connected to the rig was a Butternut HF6V for HF. The signal turned out to be a strong station on 28.370 - the IF frequency. Anyone else noticed breakthrough to 144 from the 28 IF ?? [Elecraft] P3 RS232
I have noticed that if I turn my P3 off the RS232 out link to the PC also stops. Is this correct? [Elecraft] P3, no IF display
Ok - here's one New P3. K3 1 month old. Both factory built with internal 2m module, KXV3A etc. I have no IF display at all on the P3 on any band at any scale level. Tried rescaling, everything on P3. I have changed IF lead. If I put a freq counter on the IF out socket from the K3 I get nothing - is this right? Can it be switched on and off by the K3 software? I cannot see mention of this anywhere. RS232 works and displays freq on P3 OK. DSP widths are showing - everything by IF signal data. Any thoughts please? Re: [Elecraft] P3, no IF display
OK- thanks for all the input on this on and off this forum. Some are saying that it may be a loose/missing cable. I have the 2M module in. Does this not modify the routing as there is an IF in and out on the module? I cannot get to the back of the IF out board without a serious amount of dismantling here. Re: [Elecraft] P3, no IF display
I also have had a back BNC lead but sorted this. If I connect my IC-R20 to the IF Out, tune to 8.8Mhz I hear nothing at all... -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/P3-no-IF-display-tp6546250p6546451.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] P3 RS232
I can find an output from the K3 with the R20 at about 8.580. If I set a user if to that and plug the P3 in then I get a display with a couple of peaks at -105db . However, it is not the main IF output as you can tune off it and nothing else is visible. The P3 will show the random noise floor at -165dB using scale. Re: [Elecraft] P3, no IF display
*FOUND THE PROBLEM.*During factory build the coax cable to the IF Out board from the main board has been trapped between the edge of the IF Out PCB and the metal side panel.. the gap is sufficiently small that it has crushed the coax and shorted it out... Ho hum. I think it has happened because of also having the 2M module AND freq lock board. This adds extra cables in this point and they were assembled with slightly the wrong routing - I have moved them around now and just need a new cable to complete the job - this one works but intermittently. Thanks for the help and advice everyone.. 73 Roger-GW4WND -- View this message in context: http://elecraft.365791.n2.nabble.com/P3-no-IF-display-tp6546250p6546726.html Sent from the Elecraft mailing list archive at Nabble.com. __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Elecraft] TX Inhibit options
Hi All. I am using a K3 with internal 144 transverter module. On 2m I use a sequencer for TX/RX as I use a PA and a LNA at the masthead. The rig TX is triggered by the sequencer by using the PTT In line. The sequencer ensures the rig is switched after the LNA. The sequencer is triggered either by a foot switch or by the signalink Data line. The problem I have is that there is a HUGE risk (and I have done it) of inadvertantly using the manual TX button on the front of the K3. If this is done the rig goes to TX and teh sequencer is bypassed - thus blowing the LNA.. ouch. This issue is compounded by the fact that on all other bands I need conventional operation of the ring as there is obviously no problem with sequencers elsewhere and you get used to using eiher ptt or the tx button. Question then - is there a way of disabling/inhibiting the TX button/ mic socket ptt on the rig just on 2m so that on 2m you can only instigate TX via the back panel PTT in line? Help appreciated! Re: [Elecraft] TX Inhibit options
Ok Roger - thanks for the input. TX-DLY is an option I suppose but that means the sequencer will not be sequencing in the right order. ( I dont know if that is an issue or not). The sequencer has to switch the LNA first then switches the PA and K3 over together to tx. TXDLY. If I use TXD then they will all have to go over together and maybe there is a risk of RF getting to the LNA with the amp in TX awaiting RF from the K3? Re: [Elecraft] TX Inhibit options
Thanks Bruce. The sequencer is an SSB DCW2004 B. It does not seem to have a state-change output from rx to tx. It has inputs to earth or high to trigger the sequence and then delay outputs to sequence the devices. So I am note sure that would work.. [Elecraft] K3 K144XV frequency accuracy
Hi Guys I am using my lovely shiny new, factory built K3 with built in K144XV on DATA mode on 2m for FSK441 using WSJT. It 'seems' that the display frequency is about 200Hz high compared to most other stations. Is there someway I can check/adjust the output frequency on 2 metres???
