The call I was issued when transferred here was not to my liking. This one was
available. So far haven’t had a problem with any station copying my call. I’ve
been stuck with some weird ones over the past 63 years.

For all you "Bug" users out there, I still make and sell my "Dot
Stabilizers" for virtually all makes and models of bugs. I've created a
website that gives a short history of the gadget, explains it's purpose
and shows a picture of one mounted on a Vibroplex "Original" as the page
header. Pricing and purchase/contact information is also listed on the
page.

Well what would be really useful before would be manuals, even preliminary

being posted.

I'd like to have the mod for power thru the RJ45 connector done so upon
arrival

it would be plug and play.

All - Just my 2 cents worth as an almost 100% CW guy. I have been using the
Radiosport Headsets from Arlan Communications for a while.

I have their model RS20S with the gel earpads and cloth covers for my K2
(serial #455) as it is my QRP contesting rig and these phones are SUPERB! Has
great isolation so I don't hear anything but what is coming thru the phones
(which would be good for field day). The gel pads and cloth covers make them
very comfortable for long sessions while contesting. Additionally, they are
stereo so they would work perfectly with a K3/K3s where you could put one
receiver's output in each ear for chasing DX when running split.

I also have their model RS20CR, which is monaural and 600 ohms. This is for use
with my vintage gear (Drake C-Line, R-4A and 2-B and Collins 75A-1). Also a
outstanding performer, particularly when listening to the SW broadcast.

I have not used their headset with microphone combination but if it works as
well as these listen-only units it should be just terrific!

Just my thoughts and hope this helps! Their website is here:

(Disclaimer: I have no vested interest in Arlan Communications just a very
happy user)

Hi,

Still dead here in Syracuse, NY. I did an "ipconfig /flushdns" command as
suggested by Eric Swartz in another thread. Symptoms are the same as before,
the browser (IE11) spins forever with the "Waiting for elecraft.com"
message. The FTP protocol works fine as before as do ping and traceroute.
The curl command also produces the same results as before.

Subject: [Elecraft] K3: Linux and HRD not on speaking terms

Gotta luv the K-Line, but I just cannot make the change to Linux due to
the lack of a K3 rig control program that will operate under Linux. I
have been playing with various distros and have pretty much settled on
Linux Mint 13 Maya. It does everything I routinely need except: It will
not run HRD under Wine.

I get the program to load, however I cannot get Wine to recognize the
USB port serial converter. Linux says it is there - Wine knows nothing
of it. Hence, HRD has no means to communicate with the K3. Has anyone
found a way to run HRD (old version only used for rig control) under
Wine on Linux? I have not gone to the dark side of virtual anything and
would prefer not to.

It may be that I will set up the K3 on its own dedicated Winners
computer and the desk computer for everything else on Linux. Easier, but
where's the challenge?

Suggestions or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill K-Line

[Elecraft] SSB problem--again!

2014-02-20 Thread Troy,w6hv
I have lost SSB again--however CW is still working fine. I can hear my
microphone in the monitor. This happened once before and I used the K3 Utility
and did the “Calibrate Transmitter Gain” and it restored SSB. However, I can’t
get it to work this time.

I re-set up the Mic Gain and Compression Settings. No luck.

I’ve contacted Elecraft support and Howard has been trying, but so far no luck.
Somehow I my config file must be wrong?

[Elecraft] K3 SSB problem

2014-02-13 Thread Troy,w6hv
My K3 wont transmit on SSB. It would when first purchased (recently, assembled,
used from friend). I’ve been using it on CW but wanted to check into a SSB net.
I’m very new at using the K3 so hoping for op err. Been through the manual and
settings and can’t figure it out. An external PEP wattmeter shows an occasional
1-2 watt jump at first keying the XMIT then nothing. Still works fine on CW.
Any guidance would be appreciated. The latest firmware is installed.
