[Elecraft] Thank you Elecraft Listees!
I wanted to thank everyone for all the direct responses I received while pondering my K1 Rx issues. After much poking around and pondering - I decided I could too easily get in deep and the radio is in the capable hands of Don (W3FPR) for a complete checkout, and I can't wait to get her home and on the air! [Elecraft] K1 Help Needed
Well, I seem to always have problems when I buy a used radio... Strike 3... :\ The other two were a complete loss but this one I need to salvage! I just bought a K1 and I think it has receive issues. I was trying to get on the air last night and hitting people with lot's of signal (579, 589, 599) but could not hear them at all. NB is off, tried with AGC on and off to no avail. My Radio Shack SWL radio with it's cruddy little antenna picked them up put not my K1 (feeding into an end-fed 40-6m EARCHI 31' straight up and tuned to 1.4:1 or better). Also, no matter how I try and calibrate the S-Meter - It does nothing. I went through the procedures for the Lx an Hx settings (actually found a real strong signal out of LA that I could get to peak the meter for Hx) but no matter how I set it - It just stays at that bar reading level and does nothing at all (AGC is on) from no signal to strong signal. No movement from weak to strong signal at all. It looks like I need to step through the voltage checks, and perhaps peak Rx settings, but I wouldn't want to replace components (I might break it more) so I am interested in shipping her off and paying someone to get this radio right even though my budget is completely blown out. Help and thanks! -- Warren __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
Re: [Elecraft] K2 Headphone jack switch failure?
What about just keeping a mini extension plugged in to save the jack from future wear? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/408065-REG/Hosa_Technology_MHE_100_5_Stereo_Mini_Angled_Male.html -- Warren On Wed, 19 Mar 2014 20:02:46 -0500, you wrote: My K2's speaker stopped working, headphones still work. This has happened twice since building my K1 because the switch inside the K1 jack is sawed in half by plugging and unplugging headphones. Does this same failure mode apply to the K2 headphone jack? 73, Curt KB5JO __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to drew...@verizon.net __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to alpinewar...@gmail.com __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to arch...@mail-archive.com
[Elecraft] My new K2 - Have to sell it... :(
Well what a day yesterday... :\ The radio made it fine and I did a thorough checkout (well as much as I could do) and all looks good, had a lot of QSO's and great reports... That's the good news... Bad news? My car ate it's transmission on the way home last night - I had to decide which rig to sell so I was up until 3 in the morning playing with them... In the end I have to stick with my 7200 because I do need 100 watts and SSB occasionally (I was going to add these over time on the K2). So now I have to sell the K2... :( Beautiful Elecraft K2/10 with DSP and NB Very nice CW only radio in super mint shape and built by a professional. Includes all original manuals as well. Serial number 7088. Always in a non-smoking no pet home and ready for a new owner. This rig has about 40 hours of CW use and I have decided to stick with my Icom 7200 because I need a new transmission and I have too many friends that want to rag chew on SSB and I simply cannot afford to upgrade this beauty right now so my loss is your gain! Many more pictures just ask! Asking $700 shipped/Insured in the USA- Negotiable! 73 all, -- Warren /AB6YA __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
[Elecraft] New K2 owner this week!
Hey Elecraft gang, I bought a K2/10 this week that has just the DSP and NB option installed. Apparently she was built by Mr. David Runk, AA3EJ, and according to the seller built to perfection. :) Serial number 7088. Anyhow! I have been scouring the web for information and have a ton of it! But I was wondering if anyhow had a checklist that I could go through when she arrives to ensure all is well with the rig? Thanks in advance for any guidance! 73! Re: [Elecraft] New K2 owner this week!
Thank you Don - And thanks to everyone else who emailed me directly with lots of great advice! -- Warren Warren and all, I have been informed by a couple folks that I did not read the post as well as I should have, and you are dealing with a K2. The answer is similar, go through the manual - if it is not provided, you can download it. For the K2, you can skip the Assembly sections, but go through the three Alignment and Test sections because that is where you will gain familiarity with the K2. Do the same for each installed option. If you do not have the option manuals, download them from the Elecraft website. There is no K2 Utility, and you cannot save a configuration file, but you might want to record the menu settings. If so, download the K2 A to B Upgrade instructions - the first few pages contain nice charts for manually recording those settings. With that serial number, your K2 is entirely up to date, so no updates are necessary. 73, Don W3FPR __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
