[Elecraft] Switchbox for KX3
> 3. switchbox KX3 to signalink/mike+headphones (her...@comcast.net) I did something like that few times using analogue mixer, with 2 separate stereo buses. One bus is for audio from the rig(s) - first K3, FTDX5000, Yaesu 7900 into the computers with headphone monitoring; One bus is for mics ( in my case CM-500 & Heil 781) and line out from computer, into the rigs. It was Behringer, I think 1824 mixer. Second generation used Motu M4 with KX3, for 781 & line out of computer -> KX3, and KX3-> computer + headphone monitoring. After setting levels in both directions, it worked nicely. No signalink needed. 73, de KU1T _zjt -- Zbigniew J. Re: [Elecraft] How to avoid 4 second diddle in KY RTTY commands ? Solution found.
First, thanks for all the replies. Now to the findings. 1) use of “|” to nuke diddles - does not work for me. HW is KX3 #10868, MCU software 2.95, DSP 01 52. Set for FSK D. When sending from KX3 utility, terminal window ( last tab ), there is no extended diddle. When sending from Command Tester/ KX3 macros, extended 4 sec diddle is present and pervasive :-). Following sends ( from the testing line, or from the macro ) do not nuke diddle: KY CQ TEST KU1T|; KY CQ TEST KU1T |; KYW CQ TEST KU1T|; KYW CQ TEST KU1T |; KY CQ TEST KU1T; KY |; KY CQ TEST KU1T; |; 2) KX3 owner’s manual, C5, pp 18 "• The KX3 adds a 4-second “idle time” (giving you time to decide what to say next) after you stop sending. To terminate the idle period quickly, send the character . . - - in CW. This “IM” prosign can also be inserted at the end of message buffers." What is left is how to send . . - - in CW when operating FSK D… or how to insert a CW IM prosign ( which supposedly translates to | ) at the end of the buffer. " Entering | does not work for me as described above. The programming manual Rev G4, Nov 2018, pp 15: " @ In CW mode, this character normally terminates any CW message (via KY or manual send), emulating the K2. However, tapping 2 in CONFIG:CW WGHT changes ‘@’ to a prosign: the ‘at’ sign as used in e-mail addresses. This is the newest Morse Code character; it can be remembered as the prosign ‘AC’ (as in “the At Character”). ^D (EOT, ASCII 04) Quickly terminates transmission; use with CW-to-DATA. “ While it likely work with CW-data ( not tried here), any attempt to insert ^D (via Alt-004 method of entering ASCII codes) or @ sign does not trim the diddles. What finally worked for me: In N1MM, the following Fn key assignment sends the string and immediately trims the diddle: F1 CQ, {CATA1ASC KYW CQ TEST DE KU1T CQ;}{CAT1ASC RX;} Why my KX3 ignores | - have no idea. If anyone can verify that the | works for him, or tell me what I am doing wrong - I will be grateful; for now I have a solution - an ugly working solution beats slick nonworking one. [Elecraft] How to avoid 4 second diddle in KY RTTY commands ?
Getting ready for this weekend RTTY. Still fighting with a 4 sec diddle at the end of KY commands... Anyone found which character(s) can stop / abort the 4 second diddle at the end of RTTY transmission ? It is present when using KY command from KX3 utility, from macros via utility, from macros assigned to PF1, and when sending using CAT1ASC command from N1MM. Is there a magical switch or some character to disable this feature ? how to enter it ? 73, de KU1T (in-patiently waiting for K4 ... ) zjt -- Zbigniew J. [Elecraft] Back to VFO linking.
Freshly updated K3 by factory. Yes, I know the VFO lnk is now a menu item… but: 1) use menu to turn VFO linking on. works as expected. Turning VFO A properly changes VFO B. 2) turn SUB ON. works as expected, can adjust VFO B separately, and then VFO A will move both properly. 3) Turn Diversity on ( Long press on on SUB ). VFO A and VFO B are no longer linked. Even after turning Diversity OFF, they are unlinked; checking COFNIG shows VFO LNK is OFF in config. the only way after using Diversity ON is to go into CONFIG meny to turn VFO LNK ON. [Elecraft] tune, Fset, quasar and other tidbits..
Dear group wisdom.. I am reconfiguring my shack. As part of it, trying to set up K3 - mkeyerII - StationMaster - Quadra. Got almost everything working..but. On Yaesu FTDX5K, there is a nice rca jack called “TX REQ”. Closing this port has an affect similar to pushing TUNE button on K3- rig sends a carrier at predefined power, to be used for tuning amp etc. The Quadra is connected to this port (from Band data 2, pins 9/11 ) for the purpose of tuning amp/tuner.. you push the F-set or tune button on Quadra, and rig automagically delvers the needed power. On K3, I can accomplish same effect by pushing TUNE button, with predefined power. the question is if any of the jacks or lines on ACC can be used to accomplish this same like pushing the TUNE button ? Closing Key in line in cw or USB with CW enabled generates carrier, but at current ( band specific) power level. Maybe can I connect F-set line out of Quadra in parallel with Key line from mkeyerII - any reasons not to do it ? (yes, i spent last few hours going through manuals and googling.. so be gentle, please). vy 73, de KU1T _zjt -- Zbigniew J.
