[Elecraft] K3 ERR FW2 problem
Curt, That is exactly the same problem I am having. Further testing revealed that it is happening on CW as well as SSB on my radio. I haven't tried digital modes, but I suspect that it would do the same there as well. I don't always get the ERR FW2 when the transmit drops out as you described. It happens only 1 out of 5 or 6 times maybe. I have not tried using an older firmware version, but maybe that is the next step? Please keep in touch if you find anything out and I will do the same. 73, Will Date: Sun, 14 Jul 2013 08:42:47 -1000 From: Curt Knight To: elecraft@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Elecraft] ERR FW2 - not yet! Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Aloha, I have been having a similar problem, 15 seconds of normal operation on CW then an audible relay click and RF power drops to zero, but the K3 remains in transmit and goes through all the motions. However I have not received the ERR FW2. Maybe it's time to try returning to an older firmware version? 73 Curt AH6RE __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] ERR FW2
I followed that procedure (EE Initialization / restored configuration) with no change. I am using the latest 1.13.5.9 K3 utility software. On SSB, now the radio will transmit about 5-10 seconds, then the power drops to zero and the monitored audio goes silent (although the transmit relay stays engaged). I am occasionally getting ERR FW2, and once I got a "New K3 UTIL software required" message on the front panel. I tested the radio on CW, where it performs similarly. After transmitting about 5 seconds, it goes into a solid keydown (on the sidetone) / no power output / transmit relay locked / ERR FW2. Anyone have any other ideas or is it time to ship it back to Elecraft? [Elecraft] K3 rig control/CW serial interface
Is there an interface commercially available that combines CW keying and K3 rig control (from N1MM type software) into a single serial cable? I think K1NU used to make these for Yaesu radios, but I'm not sure they are available any more. [Elecraft] Who is using CW to PSK31 with K3?
I have a question or two for those using CW to PSK31. Please reply directly off board. 73, Will ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. [Elecraft] 5 pole vs. 8 pole filters
After operating a few contests with my K3, I think I may need to upgrade roofing filters, especially on SSB. I have the stock 2.7 and the 5 pole 500Hz CW installed now. Can anyone comment on the real world contest performance of the 8 pole vs. the 5 pole filters? On SSB with the width dialed in to 1.8-2.0 Khz, I have stations at S9 and above that are easily copyable at over 4 Khz wide which makes it tough on a crowded phone band. I'm told that the Inrad supplies the filters to Elecraft, so is there really only one filter source?
