Re: [Elecraft] Suggested prices?
The K1 and KX1 are tough ones as they are unobtanium now, you may be surprised what they may bring. I forgot what I paid for mine, but I wouldn't by shy asking 75% of the original price for the rig and tuner. Now if you only had the paddle! 72 Howard Kraus, K2UD Michael Bower wrote: > Hi, gang, > > We are in the process of downsizing for a future (not scheduled). Re: [Elecraft] KX3 battery problems
I am finding the same with my Eneloop NiMH batteries. It seems they are showing diminished performance after three years in my KX3. This could be a good thing as I can replace them with a higher A/hr set of batteries. Until then I will run them into the ground. 72 Howard Kraus, K2UD Don Wilhelm wrote: > Robin, > > Can I assume those rechargable batteries are NiMH type? Re: [Elecraft] 10 meter RTTY contest starts at 0000Z
I have a blast with my KX3 during RTTY contests. I sometimes use the QRP Works Ham Central Terminal with my rig, but about two months ago I simply ran the rig sans terminal using nothing more than message memories and a paddle during a contest. I easily worked about 24 DX countries through a Super Antennas YP-3 yagi up about 20' in the back yard with little effort. Will have to give the 10M contest a try, thanks Wayne. 72 Howard Kraus, K2UD Wayne Burdick wrote: > An RTTY contests is a great time to try your Elecraft rig’s built-in RTTY > capability, either using a keyer paddle or the Terminal window in the Utility > application. (Applies to K3, K3S, KX2, KX3.) The 10 meter RTTY contests starts soon (Z), so take a listen if you get a chance. You can use the CW/data message memories to store your callsign and exchange. dxmaps.com shows some activity on the band today, a good sign. I’ve also seen a few signals popping up in the RTTY segment. Warm-up exercises, no doubt. Re: [Elecraft] KX3 Heat Sink
Of all of the aftermarket KX3 heatsinks, the VE7FMN has the most surface area and mass- read that, it will be the coolest albiet heaviest heatsink you can add to the rig. I have one on mine, run RTTY and PSK31 a lot and never notice much in the way of heat at all with the heatsink. Who can point me to a source for a right-angle 3.5mm stereo plug to bare wire cable for the KX3? I wish to make up some cables for outboard straight keys and bugs. Re: [Elecraft] Ham Central Terminal
I run one with my KX3, it is nice. The only foible to announce is occasional key bounce from an external keyboard. Need to track that one down. This is with no common ground between the terminal and the KX3. It is a little piggish on 9V batteries, the current consumption dictates that you may want spares on hand for a lengthy contest or run with external power.
