Re: [Elecraft] K3 error message ERR BP2......................please disregard
I set the configure menu on the KBPF3 to normal by mistake. put it back to the correct setting and error message is gone. Smith Bradford W9HAK Got this error message when I turned the K3 on today. It was left on 160 meters when last used. I don't have the KBPF3 option in the radio. I changed bands and back to 160 band and the error message was gone. My number 9 button takes a firm push to get the number 9. A tap for notch seldom works, and if it does it takes many taps to clear the notch. [Elecraft] K3 "REV" button and P3 center frequency freeze
If I push the "REV" button on the K3, the displayed center frequency on the P3 freezes. The K3 responds correctly, that is, it shows "VFO B" frequency. And when I let go of the button it reverts to "VFO A". But the P3 center frequency is frozen on the K3 "VFO A" frequency. The only workaround is to turn off the P3. Kind of a pain since I use the "REV" button to coach on the 'VFO B" while working split operation. Current firmware is 4.12 for the K3. And 0.37 beta for the P3. Any one else notice this issue? [Elecraft] K3 interface to Collins 30L1
Hello John, My K3 is driving my 30L1 without any problems. However I did need to construct an interface to key the amp. The key line is a -170 vdc and requires 100 ma. to actuate the relay. You can check this by measuring the - volts before keying. And then put a ma meter in series to ground and measure the keyed current. No drive required for these measurements. I used a NPN high voltage transistor, (NTE 397), for the interface. And a couple of resistors all in a small plastic box. The collector is attached directly to the keying line of the 30L1. I attached the emitter of the transistor the 12 dc supply on the rear apron of the K3. I attached the base of the transistor through a 2.7k resistor to the key output on the rear apron of the K3. Between the base and emitter I placed a 4.7k resistor. Noting trick about the arrangement but you want to be sure that the transistor is saturated for cool operation.
