Re: [Elecraft] has the k2 a future?

2009-10-13 Thread wrmoore47
Wayne, any hope of firmware updates for the K2? My favorite would be keeping
mode and ATU setting per VFO. I'd be willing to purchase a more expensive
microprocessor IC if more memory is required, as I suspect it is.

 Dear elecraft -team,
during the last 2 years all new modules and software updates had

chance for all the K2 users to get new modules and upgrades in the
 future ?

The K2 is a very mature product, and I don't anticipate adding further
internal modules to it. I've thought about a Li-Ion battery as a
replacement for the present gel-cell, but it's still too expensive and
is thus left as an exercise for the reader.

The P3 should work with the K2, though less tightly integrated than
with the K3. If that pans out, we'll post details later.

We have no plans to phase out the K2, which is still going strong
after 10 years (for which we thank our customers!).

[Elecraft] K2: K60XV application note?

2009-06-16 Thread wrmoore47
I'm about to add the K60XV to my K2 #337 and am reviewing the assembly
instructions. At the top of p. 16 it says However, a future application note
will explain how to modify the KPA100's 80-meter low-pass filter to work on 80
and 60 meters. This would provide much better rolloff if needed. I can't find
this application note. Was it ever created?

Let me second that!

[Elecraft] Electrostatic ground

2006-02-16 Thread wrmoore47
When I built my K2 (#337) I used a wrist strap electrostatic ground connected
to my station ground which went a short distance out the window and to a ground
rod. Now, in a different house, my station is on the second floor and I have
no easy access to a ground. I guess I should have my K2 grounded, but I
haven't worried about it since I'm running a balanced antenna. However, I'm
now building a K1 and I'm worried about handling the electrostatic sensitive
components. What would you guys recommend for this? Can I safely ground my
wrist strap to the AC ground? Or should I bite the bullet and run a ground out
the window (about 12' from my radio desk) and down 2 stories to a ground rod?
Or what else???

[Elecraft] OT: Need advice

2005-08-03 Thread wrmoore47
I'm thinking about getting an HF mobile rig. Don't really want to subject my
K2 (#337) to that environment, although it would probably do fine. I'm trying
to decide between an IC-706MkIIG and an FT-857D. Right now price is causing me
to favor the 857. Any advice???
