Re: [Elecraft] [K3] max input voltage on Ant 1 or 2

2008-03-24 Thread David Ferrington, M0XDF
Thanks, this is basically what I did. I made a 2' twisted pair of red
black wire and connected one end of the black wire to the output of
the ref osc (Racal 5MHz stable with oven etc) and connected the other
end of the red wire to the pin on K3 ANT2 - that gave me 9+20dB which
was just great - I did the Ref Cal and found I was only a few Hz of
the setting I done using a broadcast station of much lower freq.

else fails just put a terminator on your generator and run a cable out
of it (just a single wire). then you can run a wire into the rig and
you can then couple these wires more or less to vary the amount of
signal that you want/need.

2008-03-20 Thread David Ferrington, M0XDF
Thanks all for replies - it appears the oven control is generating
some harmonics that are getting onto the 5MHz and then I'm picking
them up - if i don't create some form of closer connection - currently
just have the output lead (floating BNC) about 1' from K3.

The single wire solution looks promising.

what is the max input voltage on Ant 1 2?
I have a ref osc that gives 5MHz at ~ 5mV, I'd like to use this to do
a ref cal by direct connection to ant 1 or 2
