[Elecraft] DL1 Short Term Ratings

2008-05-18 Thread WA6OCP

Has anyone determined what the DL1 is capable of for a short time (say 10
sec) in excess of 20W?

Besides the power dissipation, one would also have to consider the PRV of
the diode. It looks like 50W would stay within the diode's PRV rating.

Tnx, Neal WA6OCP

Re: [Elecraft] DL1 Short Term Ratings

2008-05-18 Thread Rick Dettinger
I used mine to make the 50 watt adjustments, since my watt meter only
goes to ten watts, and had no problems. I limited the key down time
to a few seconds, just enough to read the voltage. I made adjustments
with the key up and then rechecked the voltage on the DL1. The
resistors got quite warm but not too hot. I used clip leads on the
test points so I only needed enough time to read the meter.
