[Elecraft] K2 Scan rate.

2007-12-12 Thread Geoffrey Mackenzie-Kennedy

Please could somebody tell me if:

1) It is possible to slow down the scan rate of the K2 by a hardware
modification which would not affect 'normal' tuning when using either VFO
'A' or 'B' and without having to reduce the width of the band being scanned?

2) Is there a S / S+N threshold below which scanning will not stop? If there
is, can the threshold be changed by some hardware modification?

Have a nasty feeling that this is all done by firmware.

Thanks in advance.

From the looks of the circuit diagram, that has to be done entirely in
firmware, based on the 4MHz crystal.

I reckon that this has to be based on VSMTR, so one could change the
threshold, but at the cost of upsetting the S meter. I would expect the
threshold to either be based on the computed S meter reading, or based
on some sort of estimate of the actual background noise.

There is no non-software signal present signal.

RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam,
that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work.
