[Elecraft] K3 - New firmware

2008-05-18 Thread Don Rasmussen
Since the original K3 manual was printed, many
important new setups have been added to the K3
firmware that are shown and described in separate
documents.

There is now a wiki page that contains the cumulative
options to date. Each setup option can be expanded on
by users of the K3 reflector. Have a comment to make,
or a helpful suggestion about any specific K3 CONFIG
setting?

Click on the word EDIT above the setting you can help
with, then key in your callsign and your info.

For example, I added a comment about the AGC-F config
setting, see
http://www.zerobeat.net/mediawiki/index.php/Firmware_-_revision_1.96_documented#AGC-F

Here is the main page:

http://www.zerobeat.net/mediawiki/index.php/Firmware_-_revision_1.96_documented

The page is open for user edit at this time, please
give it a look, add some expertise if you have
experience with any setup and the specific results of
changing the values.

[Elecraft] K3 - New Firmware

2008-06-25 Thread Fred Jensen
OK guys, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong but I saw that a new beta
FW release is out there but my K3Utility program can't seem to find it.
It downloads one file, "K3UtilityVersionInfo.txt," and then says
"Ready." I'm currently on uP 2.02 and that's what the utility says is
available as well.

If you can help me, please reply direct ... I'm in digest mode on the
reflector and won't see a reply until tomorrow probably.

Paul,

You're apparently forgetting to download the new firmware into the file folder
that is accessed by the Elecraft K3 Utility. Don't forget to unzip the
downloaded file.

[Elecraft] K3: new firmware

2010-12-24 Thread Stephen Prior
It seems like some time since the suggestion was made that we might expect
some new firmware post 4.22, and yet I've seen no mention of it either here
or on the Elecraft website.

Have I missed something somewhere, or shall I find it under the tree in the
morning?! Wayne, do you prefer brandy or sherry? I assume that you like

Version 2.38 and DSP 1.90 are now the "Latest Regular Release" of firmware.

You may have forgotten to select the "Copy new files from Elecraft server
into local folder" before clicking "Check Versions Now" on the Firmware page
of the K3 Utility.

[Elecraft] K3 new firmware release 1.58

2008-01-11 Thread cloud runner

GREAT SCOTT !!!

the new version of the narrow filter; at the noise floor the filter is half the
width it was before as seen in spectrogram. Not only that, the top of this new
filter, even at 50 cycles wide, is FLAT topped. I imagine that is why it
doesn't ring, and it doesn't.

I listened to a signal that was 25 DB over nine, coming from the whistle clean
K3 of W7QC, and then of an S-1 DX station, which once tuned in seemed S-9, both
were essentially without ringing.

[Elecraft] K3: New firmware will get a few corrections shortly

2008-05-04 Thread wayne burdick

Just a quick heads-up:

Now that the new firmware has been released to much wider distribution,
we've been notified of some issues we hadn't discovered earlier. The
following items will be addressed very shortly with another release:

1. FM deviation set too high.

2. Selecting AFX (BIN mode) for receive causes transmit distortion in
SSB modes (AFX DELAYx settings are OK).

3. Transverter power level may be too high after a band change, and the
level can't be controlled by the POWER control.

4. CONFIG:TXG VCE menu entry appears to be non-functional. This menu
entry is needed to establish a higher drive level for voice vs. CW
modes.

I'll do another posting as soon as revised firmware is ready. Thanks
for all the quick feedback.

I installed the firmware updates and appreciate the improvements and new
features. Thanks.

Here are a couple of observations regarding items that I think are not
quite right yet:

In line with what others have already mentioned, my K3 (S/N 441)
exhibits a noticeable reduction in the peak power output level on voice
compared to CW output, but it also varies as a function of the selected
sideband. Jim, W7ZQ has found this to be true with his K3 (#28) also.
Output is lower than requested peak power on USB by some 15-30%, with
LSB being lower by as much as another 20%. My K3 has the 2.8KHz filter
and Jim's uses the 2.7HKz filter. The differences noted are consistent
for all bands.

Also, I have rerun the transmit gain setting procedure several times and
noted that the VFO A frequency is no longer displayed when the TXGN menu
is selected. I believe it was in previous versions of the firmware so
that you could see the effect of band changes while using that
configuration item. In addition, when I select the 80 meter band, the
frequency display area shows "Pr80" during the HP calibration (but not
for LP). Nothing shows for any other band selection. I can't find any
description of this item. What does it mean?

Thanks,

Gus Hansen

2012-05-15 Thread Gary W. Hvizdak
Chuck Guenther (NI0C) wrote ...
"I finally got around to installing my 700 Hz CW roofing filter"

Just to clarify, Chuck is referring to a 700 Hz filter from the 2010 batch,
rather than
the current batch which is due to arrive in a couple of weeks. There are
still 2 filters
available for immediate purchase from this batch, plus a few extras that we
will be
retaining temporarily for "shrinkage".

After that, a next batch wouldn't arrive until mid- to late-September, and
that's
provided there's sufficient demand for another production run.
