[Elecraft] K3S Macro Settings

2017-04-04 Thread Gary Ferdinand
Is it possible to set M1 and M2 to macros? I seem to be able to set M3 and M4
OK to modify TX EQ or FLAT.

I’ve not been able to assign to M1 or M2 any macro. On the K3 I assigned them
to a sequence of DN7;DN7; … DN7 or the UP7 equivalent so that with those two
buttons I could easily QSY up or down 50 kHz. The K3S responds with a “SET”
response, but the execution does not work.

The macros are a simple sequence of DN7;DN7;DN7 repeated ten times.

I figure I’m missing something. Those macros worked FB on the K3. They work
FB from the K3 Utility, current version. They can be set FB into the K3S. But
the execution is ignored.

All help appreciated.

Judging from the context, I would bet the question was asking about the _other_

which is present in the K3S.

No, I don’t know the answer…

[Elecraft] K3S Macro command XIT

2016-07-07 Thread Gene Gabry
Hi

I'm finally diving into setting up command macros, and most are successful.
I thought there was a way to not only turn on XIT, but to also be able to
set an up or down offset. I've tried several different command combinations,
but no luck. XIT turns on but no offset.

Is there not a command string that turns on XIT and allows an UP or DN
offset?

Thanks

[Elecraft] K3S Macro Programming - Rotating Macros

2015-08-13 Thread Byron Peebles
I am trying to program my first "Rotating Macro", where the PF1 Button
will set SPLIT+1 the first time it is pressed and held and it will UNSET
SPLIT the second time it is pressed and held.

I am basing this on the work by W8TN and LA3ZA, and others who have
offered support here.

I have had PF1 as SPLIT+1 and PF2 as SPLIT+5. They are saved in MACRO1
and MACRO2, respectively.

I am trying to add MACRO3 and MACRO4 to CLEAR SPLIT and set to SPLIT+1
and SPLIT+5 again.

I added the following to MACRO1 based on the Programmers reference:

MN110;SWT20;SWH18;SWT14;

#20 is listed as MACRO3, #18 is listed as PF1.

But, the SPLIT part of the MACRO works, but the MACRO is not
reprogrammed. So, little joy.

When I execute the MACROs from K3 Utility, the reprogram things fine.
But not when I hold the button.

I hope I don't have to "add" these in CONFIG every time. That doesn't
make sense.

To set a specific RIT/XIT offset, you can use the RO command. From the
programmer's reference:

   SET format: ROs

where s is +/- and is -. s can also be a space in lieu of +.

Thanks Wayne! That did it. I don't know how I missed that command string.
This phase of the K3S is all pretty much Greek to me, and I've read over the
programming manual several times trying to absorb it all before
experimenting. After a year of pushing buttons and turning knobs, I am
finally writing commands for functions I use most and want a one touch

Thanks again and 73

[Elecraft] K3S Macro Command MICSEL question

2016-07-13 Thread Gene Gabry
I am wondering if there is a more direct command to toggle between the MIC
SEL FP and MIC SEL RP other than having to use the UP/DN command? These are
the two command statements I am using to switch between the two with FP.H
being the normal home position.

To switch to RP (Bias and H already activated) = MN053;UP;CP015;MG003;MN255;

To switch back to FP.H (H already activated) = MN053;DN;CP018;MG025;MN255;

Is there another command or address to directly activate the actual mic
location other than toggling MN up and down? I just want to switch between
those two locations.

Thanks

His request for an email to K3support (which goes immediately to him and several

Re: [Elecraft] K3S Macro issue with AGC SLP

2015-10-12 Thread ae4pb
Thanks Eric,
It just hit me wrong. I'm a Systems Analyst ($4 title for a high level
software support engineer), amateur programmer (.net C#, C), and scripter
(MS DOS, DR DOS, Powershell, ASP, VB, Java).
My expectation wasn't for support to be a subject matter expert on macros. I
just had a basic question because I expect the issue is my syntax.
No worries. I have a working macro that's clumsy and not very efficient. I
found the DN command for that attribute works. I'd much prefer a direct
entry value even if it had to be a hex value 0-F instead of a string of
'DN;'.

Playing with the AGC seems to have fixed the concerns I have with the
receiver sensitivity. At the defaults the rig works very well but was acting
hard of hearing. What I've found is based on the antenna and QTH receive
conditions there are settings on the AGC with the DSP engaged that pull the
signals out VERY WELL.

As expected the issues I'm experiencing are just learning curve type
opportunities. I'm glad I purchased the K3 book and have the K3S book on
pre-order. It's definitely worth having.

Re: [Elecraft] K3S Macro issue with AGC SLP

2015-10-12 Thread ae4pb
Thanks Wayne, I don't expect to change the settings often, just once during
a contest, and once outside of contesting. Knowing me I'll likely play with
the settings a lot to better understand what they are doing. I'm hearing A
LOT more now that I've started adjusting.

Jerry,

Some K3S/K3 menu entries don't yet support the MP command (remote parameter
GET/SET). See Table 5 of the Programmer's Reference.

Since you asked, I'll add MP command support for the AGC SLP menu entry in
the next firmware release.

[Elecraft] K3S macro to select FrontPanel (mic) or LineIn (codec)?

2015-11-28 Thread Larry Gauthier (K8UT)

For phone contesting, I would like to select the LineIn codec, transmit a
wav file, then revert to FrontPanel mic input. I have the K3S successfully
transmitting the wav audio via its codec input, but not the source switching
back-and-forth. The programmer's reference lists a command that enables both
LineIn + FrontPanel simultaneously - which is unacceptable.

The programmer's reference describes the use of MP and MQ Menu Selections
(i.e. MN053) and then refer to using " UP / DN to alter the settings." I do
not know how to combine those macros for source switching. Is there a way to
make this work?

Thanks in advance for any advice,

-larry (K8UT)
