I found it worked better if I put pressure on the knob toward the paddle. I got an RSA# and KX1 is now on its way to Don. I don't desolder well, even if I can see what I'm doing, which is becoming hard these days as parts get smaller. 73, Fred K6DGW - Northern California Contest Club - CU in the 2009 Cal QSO Party 3-4 Oct 2009 - www.cqp.org __ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Elecraft@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Elecraft] KX1 encoder trouble
Pierre, Yes, it sounds like a new encoder is in order - but first check to be certain the firmware chip is plugged fully into its socket since that sometimes gives similar symptoms. If you have good de-soldering tools, replacing the encoder is no big deal. If not, cut the pins at the top, and work out the two mounting lugs by alternately heating and tipping the assembly from side to side. When finished, clean up with solder wick and install the new encoder. 73, Don W3FPR Pierre wrote: > Hi to all... [Elecraft] KX1 encoder trouble
Hi to all... The encoder on my KX1 is beginning to show some trouble. Sometimes, if I turn it counterclockwise, the numbers are going up and down erratically before they stabilise after stopping turning the knob. After, I can still work with the rig . Any idea, or is it time to replace it (seems easy to do)...?
