[Elecraft] New K3 on the air

2015-02-26 Thread Dave Olean
Thanks to the Elecraft crew. I just assembled K3 #3 and after unwrapping all
those anti static bags and plugging everything in, the darn thing worked
great!! I did not get the 100 watt amp or a second receiver, as this radio will
be used on the higher VHF bands. I just wanted to thank Eric and Wayne for
running such a great outfit. There was a lot of thought I am sure, put into
how to test and calibrate each board. The fact that someone can assemble such a
complex piece of electronic equipment out of subassemblies and have it all work
like a well oiled machine is testimony to a lot of hard work. I appreciate it.
I also can’t wait to check out the new and improved synthesizer.
There is so much snow here in Maine now that I can hardly reach my VHF
shack, so I think the only band I can make a contact on is 160 M, which is the
only band operating at the house. I hope I can make my first QSO this evening!
10 watts? 160 M? a K3? No problem!
Thanks again Elecraft.

[Elecraft] New K3 on the air

2012-10-22 Thread J.K. Hooper
I just finished my build of K3 #6884 and I am delighted.It's a 100W model
with standard filter and a DVR added.

David at Elecraft support was very helpful.

The build process was so much fun that I want like to build another Elecraft
kit.

I am enjoying listening to and using this radio! I really like the AFX
feature both with two speakers and with the headphones.

Still a lot to learn.

Kit building is so much fun that there is a legion of paid builders out there.
You'll see them put up advertisements from time to time.

2012-10-22 Thread tom betka

David is THE MAN. He is incredible. Without his help I would have purchased way
more stuff than my skill level will support. He told me exactly what I needed,
and (more importantly) what I didn't. Really helped me a lot--and then he
recommended I sign on the the Reflector and ask for additional input. His
advice was spot-on as it turns out, and my kit shipped today...
You certainly won't see any complaints from me about Elecraft's tech support,
thus far.

[Elecraft] New K3 On the Air

2008-12-23 Thread Jim Wilson
Just put the finishing touches on my new K3/10, serial number 2328. What a
great kit and how intricate the mechanical assembly let alone all the SMT
boards. Now I get to try the knobs, switches, read the manual, make some
QSOs and order some more filters. What a blast to put together and operate.
Quite a change from my last rig --- an ICOM 745... BTW, reading this mailing
list really helped me during the assembly process. The notes provided a
great deal of insight over the past few weeks as I waited for the rig to
arrive and then for some free time over the holidays so I could devote
concentrated time and methodical process to the build.

Merry Christmas to all on this list and particularly to the Elecraft folks
that put this fantastic transceiver in my ham shack!
