[Elecraft] Re: Band Limits - MARS ?
Hello Eric, Excellent news on the program to unlock TX. Thank you. Is the program also able to lock bands? For example, I would like to at some stage legally import my K3 into Thailand where 6m is not allowed. I would need to disable 6m TX/RX on my K3 before handing the radio over to the Thai authorities to check the radio. 73 de Rich, G4ZFE/HS0ZGZ eric at elecraft.com wrote: We now have a simple Windows based utility program to unlock TX outside the U.S. limits for use on U.S. MARS and by those outside of the U.S. Run it once and the rig is opened up. There are several open source C and C++ language tool kits out there, e.g, www.fltk.org, geared towards porting across OSes. Java's goal of machine independence makes it trickier to use serial and usb ports in that language, but there are libraries that allow that as well. It's important to make this small but important piece of software available to all customers. Merry Christmas 73! Re: [Elecraft] Re: Band Limits - MARS ?
Hi guys, We have a second program in process that will allow you to set specific band limits. We have an internal version of that in-house now for use setting limits for special countries , like Thailand, but it needs some sprucing up before release to the public. At this time we're only doing these programs for Windows. We just don't have the time to do everything for all operating systems. (We not that big yet! :-) Since these are usually 'one-time run' programs, I think this is reasonable. If we have time, we may do them for Mac in the future. 73, Eric WA6HHQ === Toby Deinhardt wrote: Hi Eric, We now have a simple Windows based utility program to unlock TX outside the U.S. limits for use on U.S. MARS and by those outside of the U.S. Firstly, you ought, if possible, to allow the user more than unlocking/locking of the US limits. If I take my K3 to a country which *requires* limits, e.g. in some places 6 meters is not allowed, then it would be necessary to limit the K3 accordingly before importing the K3 to such a country. Secondly, can this easily be ported to MacOs and/or other OSs? Eric Wayne, will there be a 'MARS' type band limit capability available sometime? It would be nice to be able to move outside the current band limits for Air Cadet (similar to the Civil Air Patrol cadets in the USA)use here in the UK on our MOD assigned HF channels! 73's Vic Tuff G7PYR G1ATC ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Re: [Elecraft] Re: Band Limits - MARS ?
Hi Vic, We now have a simple Windows based utility program to unlock TX outside the U.S. limits for use on U.S. MARS and by those outside of the U.S. Run it once and the rig is opened up. (It needs RS-232 / USB communications to the rig as usual.) It also has a button to re-enable the U.S. limits. Note that the final legal responsibility of where they TX is on the user. (Note: the K3 will still block high power TX in the CB band..) We are testing the final version right now. I'll also post to the email list when its ready. 73, ERic WA6HHQ -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Eric Wayne, will there be a 'MARS' type band limit capability available sometime?
