[Elecraft] Re: K1 no output on 20 - KFL1-4 problem?
I contacted Elecraft parts who sent me two 22MHZ xtals right away Plugged one into the KFL1-4. All is now right with the world. Thanks guys. There is just something perfect about the K1 on a whole bunch of levels. I enjoyed building it. I like operating it. I really like the keyer. I even enjoy working on it. Great work Elecraft. --- Mike KL7R [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I contacted the fellow from Kodiak who said replacing the 22MHz xtal fixed his problem. I sent a note to Elecraft to order a new 22MHZ xtal Ill let the list know when I get it replaced and if it fixed my problem. Re: [Elecraft] Re: K1 no output on 20 - KFL1-4 problem?
Mike, I did the same test for oscillation from each crystal some time back but double checked them again after reading your posting. Same results as I had in the past. I hear a faint signal for the 20 meter crystal. I'd say maybe about 1/4 the audio heard from this 20 meter crystal compared to the other three crystals. The 15, 30, and 40 meter crystals all oscillated at the same audio level while listening with another rig. 40m 15003.0 mhz 30m 18097.0 mhz 20m 21997.0 mhz (faint signal heard) 15m 28996.0 mhz I wonder if Elecraft had a bad bunch of 22.000 mhz crystals delivered to them? Guess I'll contact Elecraft and obtain another 22.000 mhz crystal for the 20 meter band. Let me know if you come up with something different. 72, Greg KI8AF At 22:10 09/12/2006, you wrote: I attached a cliplead to the antenna jack of my station receiver and dropped a loop of it inside of my K1. [Elecraft] Re: K1 no output on 20 - KFL1-4 problem?
Very interesting Greg, I can hear some signal on 20 but weak. Sounds like we have identical problems, I wonder what could have caused 20 to go out? The K1 was on the shelf for a couple of months and was working fine when I put it up. I dont think I did anything dumb to cause it to stop working. It is interesting that others have seen identical symptoms. I'm going to take a few DC voltage measurements and see what I see. Mike I'd sure be curious if you find out what is causing the NO output on 20 meters. I'm experiencing the same problem and have been doing so for some time. I've done a lot of trouble shooting as well but to no avail. Do you receive signals on 20 meters? I do. If I plug in the two band (40 and 20 meter) board all is well on 20 meters so I know the problem lies with the KFL1-4. In signal tracing I have signals from both 1 and 2 of T1 (pin 1 and 2 respectfully on P1) but when switch to the 20 meter band these readings are considerably lower than the readings for the other bands. On pin 2 of T2 I have no readings for 20 meters but good readings for the other three bands. Pin 4 of P1 likewise shows no signal for 20 meters. I've checked the board for shorts as well as maybe a bad solder joint but all looks good. Oh yes, my 4 band board worked good for quite a spell before loosing 20 meters. This looks to be a problem experienced by several of us that have purchased the KFL1-4 board. I'm looking for a solutions as well and would appreciate input from anyone with an idea. Or, help please. 72, Greg KI8AF Do you Yahoo!? Everyone is raving about the all-new Yahoo!
