Gary is correct; the KX3 can be turned on remotely with application of 8-12 V 
on the mic jack's PTT line. Very little current is needed.

If you read the handbook it states you have to apply power to acc2 to 
power on the unit remotely.

from the relative silence in response to my post.  I was interested in it from 
the standpoint of remote control operation.  It is not covered in Fred Cady's 
book nor in the manual.  I will let you know if I find something that works
