Just a note about the customer service I received from Elecraft. I have been

me through the setup and got the problem solved. I have never received that
quality of service from any of the other manufactures that I have dealt with in
my 50 years of ham radio.

[Elecraft] Thanks for the help.

2016-09-11 Thread Louis Ives
I finally was able to get my upgraded K-3 to recognize my K-3 utility via USB.
I deleted the utility from my computer and reloaded it, then left the K-3 with
the power disconnected over night. This morning I connected the USB cable to
the computer and then started it. I waited to make sure it was recognized by
the computer. I then connected it to my K-3 with the power still off. I
connected the power cable and started the utility. When I turned the K-3 on,
it connected with the utility and I was able to use it. There must have been
something corrupted in the system. Everything works as it should now and the
upgrades have also helped the K-3. Thanks to everyone for the advise given.

YES!!!
Q7 and Q8 are sitting pretty under the K2 ;)
Of course it was mybonehead mistake and after reading a number of
responses it finally clicked GEE...they really do fit nicely when they
are placed UPSIDE DOWN!!! (hi hi) And, guess what, after I looked at the
diagram that is JUST what I SHOULD have done. I must have looked at that
diagram about 4 times and FINALLY after reading a number of emails and taking
another look it all made sense!!! The word, orientation is what made me
think...thanks so much Bob!!!
I finished the final receive and transmit alignment just a few minutes ago
and am enjoying this great rig!!!
