Check for a bad solder joint around the 40m toroids on the filter board.
You can probably scrape the insulation from top side with an X-Acto knife
and re-solder without having to remove the toroid. I had a similar problem
on 60m with one of my units.

[Elecraft] TxG

2009-10-03 Thread Mike Kasrich
Seems that the problem is on 80 and 40. I went manually through tx gain
calibrate and at the moment the error only shows on 80 and 40. Radio
transmits. The radio says the swr is 1.1 to 1, external meter says 1.1
to 1 but the utility still says high swr.

Should have fixed this at the time of build I suppose. I remember
adjusting the watt meter a bit to get the tx gain calibrate to eliminate
the error message which is why I had the low out put to begin with. In
that respect "my bad" as they say.

[Elecraft] TXG Message

2007-12-30 Thread William Shappley

Regarding the TXG message: I just finished the assembly and
alignment of K3 SN 000175. During the low power transmitter gain
calibration, I got the same message. It happened to me in the 60M
band. Apparently, after doing the synthesizer cal, the VFO stops
on some frequencies unsuitable for transmit. You would get an END
message normally if out of band,
but for some reason on 60M I got the TXG. After setting the VFO to a
legal 60M frequency, it worked fine. So, it may
just be that you are not on a legal 30M frequency. Set it to 10.125
and try again.

As per owners manual

Transmit gain constant out of range.
This usually indicates a problem with band-pass filter alignment or
one of
the low-pass filters. In either case it could affect one or two
bands. See

service manual.

(just been working on
 :)

I have installed my Xmas present the KPA3 into K3 36
All seems to be OK apart from an error message, ERR TXG on the 30m
band

only.
Other bands seem OK and acting as should.
When trying to transmit into a dummy load 50Ohm I get no power out
and

hear a 200Hz or so whine coming from the rig.

The manual says that usually indicates a problem with band-pass
foilter

alignment or one of the low pass filters. See Service manual.

Anyone any ideas please.
I guess elecraft tech help not available today.

Thanks
Rowland
