[Elecraft] W2 Watt Meter

2009-07-13 Thread Radio Amateur N5GE
Having ordered a W2 during the first week after announcement I began
thinking about it's Sensors and it occurred to me that 200 watts max
for 144 to 450Mhz is really not enough to meet my requirements and the
requirements of avid weak signal QRO operators on those bands.

I'd like to see a 2KW sensor for those bands appear at some time in
the future after initial shipments smooth out.

Having the capability to trigger output shutdown on higher powered
bricks on those bands could save some tears for us QRO op's on those
bands.

Thanks for Both of the announcements. I ordered one of each ;o)

Can you give us a shipping status on these new products?

[Elecraft] W2 Watt Meter Interface ?

2010-03-28 Thread Bill D
Hello,

Got my new W2 watt meter kit a few days ago and got it built OK. I have the
latest firmware and
W2 interface software. The watt meter itself works well, but having some
issues with the interface
program. I am using it on a Vista (32) laptop (dual-core with 2 G RAM). It
has no RS-232 port so I have
to use a USB / serial cable. It was one I already had and not sure the
brand.
First, it takes a long time to open the program (2 - 3 mins). I am able to
finally connect to the W2
after I select the right comm port. The Interface program works and does
show my power and SWR,
but it also at times shows my 100 watt FT-840 to put out a peak power of 200
to 300 watts.
The actual W2 LED's always show the correct power (no 300 watt peaks). Also
at times the
software just goes crazy and I have to restart it.
I have tried all the different settings I could find and it still
shows those 300 peaks at times.
I have the W2 plugged into a USB port by itself (not on a USB hub).
Any suggestions on what I can do to get the interface to work better?

Thanks,

Bill - KE5YA

[Elecraft] W2 Watt meter suggestion

2015-03-14 Thread Jobst Vandrey
I operate almost exclusively with digital modes so I would REALLY like to
see a new feature on the W2 sensor module to allow a tektronix scope to be
connected for my K3 so I can monitor the transmission envelope. I have the
CP1 directional coupler minimodule but putting that in line makes for a
cluttered mess with at least two more connections to create issues.

Any chance that this will be a future enhancement to the sensor module - or
is there another easy way to connect a monitor scope that I am not seeing.

Thanks

[Elecraft] W2 Watt Meter firmware load?

2023-11-14 Thread Glenn Maclean
I recently put my K line station together K3S, KAT500, KPA500, P3. They are all
working great! I have added a brand new W2 watt meter. It came with version
1.0 firmware which from what I understand has not changed in many years and is
the latest version. I was testing my new W2 watt meter and it does not seem to
go into firmware load mode. I hold both the on button and sensor button while
powering the W2 on. I do not get the left blinking light as the manual states.
What am I doing wrong? I would like the firmware load mode to work in the event
I need to reload firmware. I am able to send commands to the W2 with my
computer.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Glenn Maclean WA7SPY

[Elecraft] W2 Watt Meter Interface Application

2010-11-15 Thread Amateur Radio Operator N5GE
Hello,

For those of us who have two K3's and two W2 Watt meters, would you consider one
of two options to help us know which interface we are looking at?

1) Since one has to rename the Interface executable to run two copies at the
same time, perhaps in the load event of the main form, put code that changes the
form Text (Title) to the name the W2 executable started up with.

2) In the setup form add a TextBox control that allows the user enter Text they
would like to display in the form Text (Title).

Thanks for considering that.

Thanks and 73,

I'm sure it would be easy to add a pickup to the sensor yourself. It
could be done with a toroid transformer placed on the center pin of one
of the coax connectors.

2022-04-23 Thread Calvin
For Sale are 2 Elecraft W2 watt meters with 2 directional couplers for

Each watt meter has one coupler for HF – 6 meters 200 watts and one
coupler for HF – 6 meters 2000 watts. They include all cables for the
sensors, power cables and USB cables as supplied by Elecraft. Manuals
are available on Elecraft web site. They are both in very good condition
and work fine.

Price for one watt meter and 2 couplers and cables is $495.00 each.
All prices include shipping. I will take money order or a personal check
and hold until it clears.

[Elecraft] W2 watt meter- multiple sensors question

2017-07-22 Thread Dave Fugleberg
I see that the W2 can support up to 2 remote sensors, selectable from the
front panel.
Is it possible to support more (say 4 total) with some kind of external
switching arrangement?
I have a K3 with three XV series transverters (144, 222, 432). Each
transverter feeds a power amp and connects to an antenna for that band. I
currently use separate external meters at the output of each amplifier. I'd
like to replace those with a single meter that can monitor whichever band
I'm transmitting on.

Re: [Elecraft] W2 watt meter- multiple sensors question

2017-07-22 Thread Don Wilhelm

Dave,

Certainly, just find a switch that can switch all the wires of an
Ethernet cable and you will be in business.
Of course, you would have to operate the switch manually unless you can
come up with some scheme to operate the switch when each transverter is
powered on.

Yes. It just takes switching the 8-wire connection to a new sensor with
something like this:

2020-05-26 Thread Keith Ennis via Elecraft
I've been asked about using the display unit for remote. Both the W2 and my
display unit use a straightforward rs232 port. I haven't done it yet, but
connecting 2 serial devices over the internet shouldn't be that hard.

2020-05-26 Thread W2xj
I’ve done that literally thousands of times. You’ll need terminal servers.
Lantronix is a popular choice. You’ll also need a fixed IP on at least one end.
