[Elecraft] OT: Apology from "Rose" of Elecraft Cases and Covers
Hi All! If you've asked for a quote or other information from me in the last three weeks and haven't yet received a reply, here's the reason We ... OM K0PP ... and I live in the country and just before Christmas suffered a total failure of our water well and pump system. Our home, along with the well and pump dates from the early '60's and it can be argued that we were overdue for a problem, but how does one anticipate such failures? We've spent the time over the Holidays hauling water from town and "getting by". Think of all the times you turn a faucet, take a shower or use the toilet and suddenly find yourself in a situation where none of this works anymore. Our pump and well were restored late yesterday (08-Jan) and things are returning to normal. As far as I know I have all of your messages and will respond as soon as possible. Don't hesitate to follow up if you're concerned. FWIW ... aside from the Christmas and New Year holidays our 62nd year wedding anniversary fell within this period. (:-(( I apologize for the bandwidth, but I wanted all to know what was going on. 73! [Elecraft] About Rose and her Elecraft cases and covers
This e-mail is being sent via several routes and I apologize if you've received or see more than one copy. Rose wants to be sure that everyone is aware of her situation. Hello! I'm Rose's OM Ken (K0PP) and you're receiving this e-mail because you're one of the MANY who are either waiting on the delivery of an order or have made an inquiry about an carrying case or dust cover. Most of you have been made aware via the Elecraft reflector or Yahoo's KX3 reflector that she's had a cancer scare and has been taking chemotherapy treatments for several months. It's turned out to be extremely debilitating for her, and she's not been able to do much of anything. The good news is that after several CT scans and other tests the oncologists tell her she's cancer free and we both have confidence in this. The chemo- therapy is being done as a precautionary measure. She initially started the treatments on a once-a-week schedule, but found that they were simply too hard on her and has ... with the concurrence of the cancer center staff ... cut them back to two week intervals. She has five treatments left. Her sewing room is up a flight of stairs and she's simply not able to climb the stairs, even if she could sew. One of the side effects of the chemotherapy is neuropathy (SP?) in her fingers, meaning that she has very little feeling in her fingers and can't manipulate the many pins used to hold a bag or cover together for sewing. Actually, she needs to use both hands to hold most things ... a cup of coffee for instance. She gets around the house using a walker. It's been her practice to not ask for payment for an order until she tells you she's ready to sew or you, but several have sent payment anyway. If you're one of these, don't hesitate to request a refund if you'd like. She -will- be back to her sewing room in a few weeks and your orders will be filled. Thank you for your understanding and support! 73! Dick, Willis and Terry, Good deal on the cases guys. One of my cases contains an Icom 7000 mounted on a finished board with a tuner. It has a handle on it so I can conveniently pull it out of the case to set it down where ever and fire it up. My K3 has a better life.as it should. Re: [Elecraft] Cases by Rose
I'll throw in my two cents for Rose's cases. I have covers for the K1, K2, K3 and KX3 and carrying cases for the K2 and KX3, all embroidered with my name and callsign. My carrying case for the KX3 is one of the first that Rose modified to be tall enough to accommodate the KX3 and KXPA100, as well as having the back pocket to accommodate Fred Cady's excellent book on the KX3. My hat is off to the unknown ham at the IDXC Convention in Visalia a year ago, who tried stuffing a prototype KXPA100 and a KX3 in her existing KX3 carrying case, and communicated this idea back to Rose. No extra charge for these mods, BTW! 73 de Jim - AD6CW On 3/9/2014 4:22 PM, Steve Roberts wrote: I'll second that! A whole station in one small bag and my callsign embroidered on the front. Re: [Elecraft] cases
Ah. Reminds me of the 60's when my band could not afford the top of the line Anvil road cases and resorted to buying amp case parts from Fender and others to build our own racks. Bob Heil custom built our mixers, EQs and mains and monitors for us. Another local musician, Jay Barry, began making rack road cases for musical groups in the area and many ham clubs put them to good use outside the music business. Back to roll your own. I have just received my custom carrying case from Rose, N7HKW. It's designed to hold both my K2/100 and the KAT100 tuner, along with a couple of side pockets for small accessories. The quality and workmanship are great! Now I won't have any fears of scratching or dinging the equipment since the case is well padded.
