RE: [Elecraft] Help -- stuck in MCU LD

2008-12-10 Thread Dick Dievendorff
Please restart the K3 Utility. Is this the Windows or Mac version of the K3
Utility?

You're pressing the Send All Firmware button on the Firmware page, right?

Subject: [Elecraft] Help -- stuck in MCU LD

Trying to put in 2.72. Something crashed and caused a loss of
communication the initial attempt, and the radio is stuck in MCU LD.

Went through the procedure for forcing bootloads in the manual -- can
get to the red flashing TX LED, with MCU LD in the display (no
backlight). But nothing past that.

Here is a sample of the Utility (1.1.10.17) log:

11:10:24 K3 boot loader is ready for MCU firmware load. RS232 38400 bps.
11:10:24 New firmware is available for your K3
11:10:29 K3 boot loader is waiting for MCU firmware load.
11:11:01 K3 boot loader is waiting for MCU firmware load.
11:11:12 K3 boot loader is ready for MCU firmware load. RS232 38400 bps.
11:11:12 New firmware is available for your K3
11:11:30 K3 boot loader is ready for MCU firmware load. RS232 38400 bps.
11:11:30 New firmware is available for your K3
11:11:35 K3 boot loader is ready for MCU firmware load. RS232 38400 bps.
11:11:35 New firmware is available for your K3
11:11:46 K3 boot loader is waiting for MCU firmware load.
11:12:25 K3 boot loader is waiting for MCU firmware load.

It just sits at the ... waiting for MCU firmware load point and
nothing happens. The port checks ok, with good communication to the
radio. No yellow flashing led, ever.

Is there some other way to hard reset this thing to get it moving? Or
something else I missed in the manual?

Done several times. NO change.

Except now, I can test the port and got a good test at the right
speed. The TX LED goes out, and the delta-F led comes on solid. WHen
I try to upload firmware I get K3 not responding. So it responds,
then it doesn't.

I don't have a good feeling about this. Don't believe it's the
computer port. It seems to be the radio.

It's the Mac version of the Utility.

Yes, It's the Mac version.

It fails. Every time. Usually, but not always, once I restart
everything, I can use the test comm page to check, and get a good
test. Then when I try loading firmware, it fails.

Let me know if it continues to fail.
