I think the fan speed setting is *minimum* speed, not fixed speed. I seem to remember when I first installed the remote software that the slider position responded to the KPA1500’s automatic fan speed. I could look at the position of the slider and know (while wearing headphones) what the fan speed was. But that no longer seems to be working, and the blue slider remains at the far left position even when the amp fans are running. So I’m not quite sure how this slider is supposed to work. Neighbor and serious contester K6XX was the engineer who put both of their amps into production. He borrowed my KPA1500 for a contest after he lost everything in a major wildfire. He told me my fans were super dirty with dust, because I was running them at far higher speed than necessary to keep the amp cooler than necessary. Bob's advice was to use the Auto setting for the fans and let the protection logic take over. I've done that ever since (about 18 months) and while I've seen the temp get up to 90 C a few times, I've had no issues running heavy CW and RTTY contesting. Usually though, it rarely gets much above 75 C.
