Re: [Elecraft] OT: 15 meters last night

2022-05-27 Thread Victor Rosenthal 4X6GP
At about 0045z on Tuesday morning (your Monday night) I called CQ on 17m
CW. For the next hour, I had a solid run of stations in North America. I
worked stations in Maine, Florida, VE7, Southern CA, etc. All over the
continent, with many 599s. I probably could have continued, but I wanted
to sleep a bit before getting back up (it was 0445 local time when I
quit). I do run high power, but my antenna is a rotary dipole.
Unfortunately, though I worked stations in MT, UT, ID, and CO, nobody in
WY called me.

I just happened to be testing new firmware on the K4. Thought I'd

Anyone else notice?

2022-05-26 Thread Alan Bloom
About 8 pm here in southern Utah I was listening to W1AW code practice
on 10 meters.   Good strong signal - received on a ground-mounted trap
vertical antenna.  And I could hear a bunch of 10 meter beacon stations.

Re: [Elecraft] OT: 15 meters last night

2022-05-26 Thread David Herring
Yep, I noticed here in New Mexico. ;-)

Slightly higher on 12 meters I saw a station in Kenya doing FT8 that was on
nearly all day and up until bedtime here last night. Converting to Africa
time, it had to have been 4 or 5 in the morning there, which means the band
stayed open for them essentially all night.
