How to set alarm in appointment set
I, I use the syntax: °° xxx yyy zzz <2024-08-29 Thu 15:45> To set a date. How can I set an advice (1 or 2 hour) before? I mean: I would receive an alert 1 or 2 hour before that alert me of the new appointment . Can I set emacs using init.el or something else to advise me some time before that there is a date? Or is there some specific syntax that help me to alert some time before? Thank you Renato

diary-anniversary doesn'work om Mac osx 12.6.3
I’ l try here, because I’m really confused about this prob. I try to perform this simple line of emacs manual (this is the perfect page of the manual where I took this: where I took this: "31.13.10 Sexp Entries and the Fancy Diary Display”). Because trying to learn emacs I would try as many entry possibile as I could (I know I can obtain that in a different way). But on my Mac OS X platform I cannot obtain the right result. I’ve tried with: - emacs ver 26.2; 28.3; 28.3 (via terminal “emacs -Q” and via GUI With or without a init.el file -aquamacs 3.6 (that use emacs 25.3.50.1) And finally, I’ve installed a VM, running Debian 11 and try it running emacs by terminal and typing ORG-AGENDA ret a I obtain the agenda with the correct entry. So I’m wondering: Maybe Mac osx does not contain the right (elisp?) code to obtain that? Any suggestion will be appreciate, because I cannot explain to my self this Thank you Renato

Can I have the hourly set in Agenda in different way?
I try to explain my self. Some question on How to handle date, recursive events
Hi, I’m building my own calendar. I try to check: 1 - retry a thing until it is not done 2 - recursive events (each week, every first Friday of month…) i.e. 1) ** TODO call Paul < 2022 10 05 10:30 +1d> In this example I’ve created an Agenda view that remember me to call Paul every day, at 10:30 each day until Paul answer me. Then I would set it as DONE.Today Paul has answers me, but if I try to set it as DONE (Shift - right arrow) it does not cycle to DONE state. I’ve thought that is the + 1d that block me to set as DONE. I’ve removed it and now it goes as DONE. But the entry still appear on next days as DONE. Why it does not erase it self from Agenda view? Is it possible? Or not? 2) Is the a way to set recursive events like “the firs Friday of the month” or each Tuesday of the month, not date-related (I mean: with +1 w I add the event the days x +7 days. Isn’t it? I hope I have been clear. Renato

[O] Bug: org-files-list duplicate files [9.1.3 (9.1.3-29-g037db0-elpa @ ~/.emacs.d/elpa/org-20171204/)]
Hello, Investigating an issue I was having with (org-resolve-clocks) that i would need to resolve the same clock twice, i believe i stumbled upon the following bug on (org-files-list) (used by (org-resolve-clocks)): It gets a list from (org-agenda-files) and pushes the open org buffers found through (buffer-list), but i believe it _incorrectly_ uses (cl-pushnew) since it ultimately uses memql (which compares with eql) to check existence of the buffer file name (a string) with the (org-agenda-files) list (of strings), returning duplicate items on lists since compared strings are not the same lisp objects. Advising (org-files-list) with (delete-dups) is a workaround i'm using but (org-files-list) needs to be changed to use member instead of memql. Thank you very much. Hello, Yes you are right, i digged deeper in the problem and it seems to be that the cond: (cond ((org-face-from-face-or-color 'priority nil (cdr (assoc p org-priority-faces ((and (listp org-agenda-fontify-priorities) (org-face-from-face-or-color 'priority nil (cdr (assoc p org-agenda-fontify-priorities) ((equal p l) 'italic) ((equal p h) 'bold)) returns nil altogether for priorities which are neither the highest (equal p h) or the lowest (equal p l) (hence the bug appearing on #B priorities by default). That gives (nil . org-priority) so: (overlay-put ov 'face (nil . 'org-priority)) Which triggers the message the second time it runs. >From the elisp manual for (overlay-put ... 'face (a-cons . cell)): • A cons cell of the form ‘(foreground-color . COLOR-NAME)’ or ‘(background-color . COLOR-NAME)’. This specifies the foreground or background color, similar to ‘(:foreground COLOR-NAME)’ or ‘(:background COLOR-NAME)’. This form is osupported for backward compatibility only, and should be avoided. Which makes me think the whole cond inside it: (overlay-put ov 'face (cons (cond ...))) is kinda wrong from the start. But i don't know, just guessing because overlay-put is a C function. Anyways, for the ECM: (setq org-priority-faces nil) (setq org-agenda-fontify-priorities 'cookies) (setq org-highest-priority ?A) (setq org-lowest-priority ?C) Create an .org with: * TODO [#B] Test Start the agenda for TODO items with buffer restriction on that file. When it loads and everytime you pass the cursor on the line with the TODO item it gives the message: "Invalid face reference: nil" I hope that helps, thanks already for looking into it! I'm using release_8.2.10 and experienced the same problem. The problem seems to be the function org-agenda-fontify-priorities which calls: (org-face-from-face-or-color 'priority nil (cdr (assoc p org-priority-faces))) which expects a face to inherit from. When org-priority-faces is nil or color or even does not specify the priority(e.g. "B") it inherits from nil and causes the message. Setting it to something like (quote ((65 . org-level-1) (66 . org-level-2) (67 . org-level-3) (68 . org-level-4 is a workaround to the problem. Renato

But, I'm not skilled to GIT I'm wondering: In Linux (but in win too) the file must have a particular name (.emacs on linux; init.el on windows) and reside on a particular folder. How do you obtain that? Thank you Renato
[O] prob. working with Agenda
Hi Alexander, that, finally, works. you can't image how much work do I've done. But that was, for me, very usefull (each things I've done... lead me to learn somethings new) Now I can deal with agenda features, and I've understand that my .emacs (on linux) is in my home directory, but if it is not there...emac runs and takes setting from elsewhere (this lead me crazy for a while...) So thank you for your help. Now I will ask something new, but on the list Thank you Renato
[O] do I have to set .emacs for each file to work with agenda? II

[O] using Agenda org-agenda-files variable
Hi, following this tutorial "http://orgmode.org/worg/org-tutorials/orgtutorial_dto.html"; at this point: "A taste of advanced features"it's written to add this text, on my init.el file (I'm working on win). (setq org-agenda-files (list "~/org/work.org" "~/org/school.org" "~/org/home.org")) I've done it. Continuing the tutorial, I find some operation to do in my org file "Press *C-c a t* to enter the global todo list" I do that, but I receive in the *Org Agenda* buffer, the following text: _ Global list of TODO items of type: ALL Available with `N r': (0)[ALL] __ and nothing else. I have on my 1.org the following line: *** configure SCHEDULED: <2014-01-08 mer> So, I'm expecting, that i could find at least this TODO line on the Agenda. But nothing... What I've done wrong? Do someone can link me some page example? Or something similar where I can get help? TIA Renato ps I don' t find the file work, school and home .org, on the folder where my org file (1.org) are stored :-( )
[O] working on cloud
Hi, I'm learning emacs (as you probabily know :-)). I have: - one pc at home (linux Debian) - one at work (windows) I would like to use the same configuration. Now, I have my .org file on the cloud (so I can access it from anywhere) But I'm starting to edit also the config file: on Win it is: init.el on linux is emacs so...How can I have a centralized instalation of emacs? Or, better: Is it possible? TIA Renato

[O] GIT fot publishing .org
Hi, I'm looking for a GIT, that I can use, to save .org file. CAn someone sudgest me one? TIA Renaro
[O] please. Hekp me to start
Hi, I know, ther's a lot of doc around there. But: can someone show me "the best" road map" to start using (and learning) org-mode? I've past the few days, learning emacs, and now, I think I'm able to start using org-mode. TIA Renato
[O] one step ahead
Hi, after my first prob (with TODO), now, I've my second one :-( the Agenda. Following the guide: http://orgmode.org/worg/org-tutorials/org4beginners.html#sec-5 I've: - opened the 1.org - press the Cca (So, again, visit 1.org. Next press *C-c a*, which calls the agenda. It looks like this:) But, nothing appens... I mean, I don' t see that: Press key for an agenda command --- a Agenda for the current week or day t List of all TODO entries Can someone help me? TIA Renato
[O] first step of newbe: *TODO
Hi, as I already told, I'm a really newbe (to org-mode, as well as emacs) I'm starting from the very beginning: following the Doc (here: http://orgmode.org/worg/org-tutorials/orgtutorial_dto.html) I wrote my firs TODO list. But when I press C-c C-t over a TODO element, it appear DONE, write near the task, but not the CLOSED [time...] on the line after that. What I have to do? TIA Renato ps sorry, for the stupid question, but it is really my very firs experimet :-(

[O] org-babel-lilypond basic mode: score size
Hi, I just got some test lilypond snippets export nicely to latex, and it's very nice to be able to mix normal text, with orgmode's formatting ability, with music snippets. There's only one little annoyance I'm having: in the final pdf files, I'd like the scores (notes, staffs - everything) to be bigger. As a hack I can adjust the options of \includegraphics in the .tex file, but first I'd like to be able to adjust such settings from the .org file, and second I would prefer an "intelligent" zoom, not simply of the .eps image, so that as the score gets bigger it gets split among more lines, without going out of the paper boundaries. Maybe there's some option I can put in the lilypond's source blocks to make its output in bigger font? I don't know much of lilypond actually... cheers, renato signature.asc Description: PGP signature

I've made some test runs and it really runs smoothly - you just run org-caldav-sync in emacs and your orgmode and google calendar are synced. The phone's default calendar is himself synced to google. It's actually so painless I'm surprised, and I'm kind of expecting some pitfall... we'll see :) Next step will be to install owncloud (which org-caldav also supports) on my VPS and bypass google. I'll still use MobileOrg for consulting my more wiki-style org files, but for pure agenda stuff, org-caldav is far smoother IMO.
