Re: CCA Decisions

1997-04-01 Thread Thor Marhaug

Richard,

At the following address you may find the 1995 version:
http://uc.com/compliance_engineering/reg/safety1.htm

For updated versions:
I'm sure it is possible to sign up for regular updates from any of the CCA
bodies within the CENELEC. I think the secretary of the Operational Staff
Meeting is located in Austria at the OVE (unless there has been recent changes).

Boilerplate Language

1997-04-01 Thread Steve King

Rather than reinvent the wheel...

Does anyone know of or can point me to a source for some standardized language
that could be added to component specifications to make it a requirement for
suppliers to deliver licenses or records of compliance with the material.

I'm continually pursuing component suppliers to provide me their licenses so I
can in turn provide them to my third party compliance agency. It's a time
consuming process, typically taking one through many layers of an organization
to reach the single individual (generally one of us in this group) that knows
what in the heck is needed.

I'm looking to add some verbiage that succinctly communicates the needs to
comply with these standards:

CE Mark & Declaration of Conformity

Low Voltage Machinery EMC
 08/19/74 12/31/9212/31/95

Additional customer requirements:

Product Safety - SEMI S2-93 and UL1950 - letters of compliance
EMC - SEMI E33-94 - letter of compliance
Ergonomics - SEMI S8-95- letter of compliance

Any any help and all comments welcome.

re: Acoustic noise requirements

1997-04-01 Thread Lyle Luttrell
Moshe,

There are several directives that include acoustic noise requirements. A
good summary was published in the Noise/News International, Sept 94. Most
of these are dealing with safety issues, therefore high levels. The
Machinery Directive (89/392) includes acoustic noise requirements which may
be relevant if your product falls within the scope of that directive.

Compliance of workstations with ZH-1 is still a legal requirement in
Germany. TUV and VDE still require testing to the standard to obtain
their approval mark.

Hello everyone,

does anyone happen to know where I can find information on ergonomics
standards?
(e.g. EN 614 ?)
Which directives/standards require ergonomic issues?
(I recall TUV used to require some "color of product" and "size of
letters"
but these are
probably no longer relevant in the times of self declaration)

thanks
and a happy april 1st

Ergonomic requirements

1997-04-01 Thread George Alspaugh
Moshe,

I cannot answer your core question. However, I can comment on the reference to
"TUV" requirements. The German Workplace Law includes some rigid ergonomic
standards relative to colors of workstation components, reflectivity (glare),
height of
keyboards, etc. When we obtained TUV certificates for our typewriter models
years
ago, we included ZH1/618 which was (is) the German ergonomic standard. Other
than this, I am not aware of any single significant European ergonomic
"standard"
that is mandatory. But I was wrong once before in my life (April fool's joke).

Dear Jon
Immunity is not required at this stage. We intend to require it in future for
selected products that are particularly susceptible, but we have no
implementation date as yet.
