Re: [PSES] Good Morning - bad breakup?
Adding my $0.04 (adjusted for inflation!) I doubt my employer knows what the IEEE EMC Society is, let alone ‘cares’ about it. I find employers are more concerned with membership to internal committees for the betterment of the business. Take for example the Halloween Decoration Committee. 😊 Chris Brown Team Lead Compliance t 800-265-1844 - Ext 1380 t 519-455-9675 - Ext 1380 [http://sgcdn.startech.com/005329/esignatures/StarTechLogo.png]<https://www.startech.com> [Laptop Docks]<https://www.startech.com/docking-stations> [Facebook]<https://www.facebook.com/Startechdotcom> [Linkedin] <http://www.linkedin.com/company/startech-com> [Twitter] <https://twitter.com/STARTECHdotCOM> [Contact us] <https://www.startech.com/ContactUs> This email from StarTech.com, including any attachments, may contain confidential and/or privileged information for the intended recipient(s) only and the sender does not waive any related legal rights or privilege. Re: [PSES] Retrofit kits
Hello Gary, Can you please clarify your first question? Are you asking if the retrofit kits should be evaluated/certified to 62368, or, if a product that has been evaluated/certified to 62368 can incorporate a retrofit kit? For your second question, most will suggest that a qualified/trained person should conduct the retrofit kit installation; however, it is likely that the AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) will require an inspection of the equipment once the work is completed. Usually, this can be accomplished via 'Special Inspection' with an accredited body (UL, CSA, etc...) The only ones I am aware of are for upgrading light fixtures from older technologies to LED's. There are several flavors such as Self-ballasted LED Type Lamp category (OOLV) and Sign Conversions, Retrofit (UYWU). Can retrofit kits be listed for IT products examined to UL62368? Re: [PSES] Withdrawal of EN 55024:2010
Thank you Charlie! This answers my question very well. Yes, 60950-1 to 62368-1 has been an 'adventure'. There is no grandfathering under CE marking as standards are only every optional (though that's a narrow technicality to sit on for some directives) Market enforcement and customers expect Harmonised Standards to be applied, and that's the recommended approach. Depending on the product, and how it was configured and monitored when tested against EN 55024, you may find that only partial re-testing is required. This is much more straightforward for the transition from 55024 to 55035 than for 60950-1 to 62368-1 Best regards Charlie Charlie Blackham Sulis Consultants Ltd Tel: +44 (0)7946 624317 Web: https://sulisconsultants.com/<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsulisconsultants.com%2F&data=04%7C01%7CChris.Brown%40startech.com%7Caeddf902055b484cd9f708d8efc46bac%7C0bf3d7afc3864a2b87b016e76addfb23%7C0%7C0%7C637522974194384176%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=TWHoXiRe0HnyDEu3D0VFwmK9mdmFqkQtPIEM1Zh1SZY%3D&reserved=0> Registered in England and Wales, number 05466247 From: Chris Brown mailto:chris.br...@startech.com>> Sent: 25 March 2021 19:20 To: EMC-PSTC@LISTSERV.IEEE.ORG<mailto:EMC-PSTC@LISTSERV.IEEE.ORG> Subject: [PSES] Withdrawal of EN 55024:2010 FORWARD: In an Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/455 issued in mid-March, the Commission moved to replace the 2010 edition of EN 55024, Electromagnetic compatibility - Product family standard for audio, video, audio-visual and entertainment lighting control apparatus for professional use - Part 2: Immunity, with EN 55035: 2017, Electromagnetic compatibility of multimedia equipment - Immunity requirements.
