RE: Query on dealing with BSMI for EMC

2008-07-07 Thread alain.samlai (岑國綸)
Dear Jim,

As far as I understand BSMI, BSMI only regulates standards (the S) and
inspections (the I).

For laboratory accreditation, you may need to contact the Taiwan Accreditation
Foundation (TAF) or ILAC for MRA.

Hope this may be of some help.

Alain

Subject: Query on dealing with BSMI for EMC

Esteemed experienced colleagues,

My company has a NVLAP-accredited EMC test laboratory in California. My
product is ITE equipment (high value, low volume) and does not include
telecom. My method of certification is usually the Declaration of Conformity.
I understand that I can request my scope of accreditation be increased by
NVLAP to include Taiwan’s CNS 13438.

I am struggling to understand the process to follow in dealing with Taiwan.
Do I need to become a BSMI (Taiwan) recognized laboratory and get a lab
number? If so, how do I proceed?

I appreciate any enlightenment.

Jim

RE: Taiwan Access for Experiments or Lab Trials

2001-12-06 Thread alain.samlai (???)

Dear Jeffrey,

new regulations will come in effects next year, probably as soon as
January 2002 - if the corresponding law will be approved without delays.
They will offer the possibility for manufacturer to self-declare the
conformity of their products.
the label to be put on the products consists of the BSMI logo + the
company ID number, just like in Australia (C-Tick + ID number).
there is also the possibility for exhibition, testing, etc... to apply
for entry without certification, but I have not seen the details of this
procedure. Still, you will have to apply it to the BSMI and wait for
their approval. In this case, it may be more efficient to directly
register your company at the BSMI. Once you will get your company ID
number, you will then be able to self-declare conformity and put the
label. this ID number would eventually serve next time.

Group,

Anyone have experience or knowledge of gaining access into Taiwan for
experimental purposes to prove functionality or for laboratory trials?
We are looking for temporary access prior to completing BSMI approvals.
My
previous experiences with Taiwan required proof of certification
to even get through customs. Our product is strictly Central Office
-48VDC
(Restricted access / not for the consumer) and will be entering into
Taiwan from Hong Kong.

RE: Swiss Web Site

Switzerland seems to have made lots of efforts to follow the EC
regulations.
This can be seen at the Integration Office Switzerland-Europe website

you can find there an interesting document: AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE

Dear All:

It is my understanding that South Korea has adopted a set of EMC
immunity
requirements that are similar, but not identical, to the ones that the
EU
imposes. I believe that the scope of the requirements includes ESD,
radiated
RF immunity, EFT, surge, and voltage drops.

So far, I have only heard verbal references to these requirements, but I

would like to get more definitive information. Can anyone in the group
help
me with the following questions?

1) What are the official standards (publishing entity and standard
numbers)
for EMC immunity?

2) What types of equipment fall within the scope of these requirements?
(My
particulat interest is telecom equipment, both TTE and central office).

3) Are the immunity requirements mandatory at this time or will they be
phased in at a later date?

4) Is there a way to get English translations of the requirements and
test
procedures?

5) What test labs are certified to perform the tests?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
