[PSES] HV battery
Hi Guys, 1. Per UN 38.3 single cell required to have protective means to be declared as single cell battery…. And protective means such as fixed terminals, solid enclosure, safety vent can be considered as a protective means to declare it as a single cell battery? 2. IEC 62619 tests under sec 8. Overcharge control of voltage, overcharge control of current requires voltage of 10% higher than rated, and 20% higher than rated current respectively… question is , charger to charge such massive battery ( 600 - 1000 VDC and current of the order of 300 to 400 Amp) has to defeat several safety measures before it can be made to deliver higher voltage and current . These defeats can be seen as faults. And battery has several safety measures before it can be made to receive such charging conditions This means creating deliberate several faults. What’s the rational of these tests under single fault conditions? Would like hear battery safety experts comments Kind Regards, Sudhakar Sent from my iPhone - This message is from the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society emc-pstc discussion list. India is a CB scheme member, However the Mandatory (Compulsory) registration of ITE and A/V products is a national registration scheme. [PSES] Industrial
Hello Guys, ROHS2 Question: The question is on article 4 4 ( d) and (e) monitoring control instruments and Industrial monitoring control Instruments How does this directive defines industrial and what constitutes professional use? I have the following info, However I would like to get more clarity on this from our EU experts. Article 3(24) of the RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU) defines (somewhat ) industrial monitoring and control systems: ‘industrial monitoring and control instruments’ means monitoring and control instruments designed for exclusively industrial or professional use.The RoHS 2 Guidance FAQ, Q6.9, describes “professional use”: Q6.9 How should “professional use” be interpreted? Does it apply only at the first placing on the market, or also at later stages? “Professional use”, as referred to in the exclusion of non-road mobile machinery and the definition of industrial monitoring and control, refers to the use phase of the EEE. In order for EEE to be marketed for “professional use”, its intended end user has to be a professional. It should also be noted that RoHS 2 does not differentiate between EEE for professional or non-professional use other than in a few exclusions. These exclusions explicitly state that the equipment concerned is made available only for professional use, in order for the exclusion to apply. In some cases a manufacturer may place EEE on the market with the intent that it is only used for professional use. However a distributor outside the control of the manufacturer may make the EEE available for a non-professional use (for example through sale or hire). In these cases the distributor is modifying the purpose of the EEE and therefore may be taking on the responsibility for the compliance of the EEE (Article 11). Generally, The FAQs reflect the views of DG Environment (Guidance document) and are not legally binding. The FAQs are considered to be a “living document” that may be revised in the future. Thx! Re: [PSES] Meaning of regulating network in 61010-1
Electrical engineering offers coures in Network theory, electrical circuits therory etc However if you make a schematic with Z1, Z2 Z3 etc in series/Parallel combination, It is more like impedence network and not really a circuit. You can transform this network to circuits by changing Z1, Z2, Z3 etc to RLC in series/Parallel combination. So in short impedence single element/combination is a network and RLC single element/combination is circuit. This extended period should help manufacturer to better organize and plan for certification /registration. During this time BIS is planning to discuss the report variations issues with the approved labs and try to close the all variability. This is also good time to revisit the fundamental definitions like series classification which has a direct bearing on the # of samples to be tested and certfied. There are also some critical aspects in registration application like factory layout , applicant , contact info etc. which will require due attention, So that BIS does not reject it and cause delay in accepting the application As I mentioned previously in this e-mail , I am expert in all aspects of the scheme and have first hand knowledge and contact with DEITY/BIS Please feel free to contact me offline. [PSES] Ball drop test and Impact hammer test ... IEC60950-1 2005 and UL, CSA variation
Hi Guys, Can the ball drop test be conducted using impact hammer ? I do not see any credible reason for not using the impact hammer.
