Re: High-currrent resistors and inductors - preferably variable
Try Combinova of Sweden. They make the impedance boxes. Their Web sit is www.combinova.se. Ergonomics Inc. is the North American representative for them. The address is above. The way Sc77A made the standard.makes it difficult to make the measurements unless you are willing to scrap your old AC sources. It is not so easy to just add an impedance box. One has to consider the impedance of the AC source and the external impedances together to get the correct impedance. Otherwise the unit under test has to meet the requirements with a significantly higher impedance. There is another way to solve the problem. Combinova makes an AC source the has programmable output impedances so the dissipation problem is minimized and the EUT is at the correct impedance. Re: High-currrent resistors and inductors - preferably variable
Re: High-currrent resistors and inductors1/27/03 What we have found to work well is a combination of a resistor bank of open helical resistors which we purchase from Post Glover (www.postglover.com). Typically the total resistance is approximately 30 ohms which can be tapped off in 1 ohm steps to form various series parallel combinations. We then have air core inductors custom wound with multiple taps to allow for adjustment of the power factor. I would expect that most transformer companies can wind this type of inductor for you.
