RE: WEEE question

2008-03-03 Thread emc-p...@ieee.org
Piotr,
You are only obligated for products within the scope of WEEE placed on
your home market unless you have any "legal entities" in other EU member
states, when you might then be obligated. Otherwise it is your
distributors or importers in the other member states who are obligated.

Thus you just need to look at the Polish legislation which can be found
on the web such as here:

http://www.b2bweee.com/requirements/pl

or details on Polish WEEE here:

http://www.cemarking.info/weee-registration/poland.html

Final implementation in Poland is not until Dec 2008.

Until now I am confused what I really have to do with WEEE.
Adding the symbol is easy, but then (I expect - may be not in this case)
you
probably have to:
- raport each 3 moth the volume you have sold,
- be prepared to supply disassembly instruction if asked by recycler,
- end year calculation of recycling levels achived (and pay some
calculated
fee if level too low),
- some kind of financial guarantee for that fee.
- may be more I don't know.

At the beginning we have added the symbol to all our product labels. But

then, when we decided that some our products are not in the WEEE scope
(WEEE
scope interpretation is the separate story), we removed this symbol from

their labels.

Hi group,

Does a power supply also need to be marked (crossed-out wheeled bin) according
to the requirements in the WEEE directive then its a part of a product that is
within the scope of the WEEE directive?

(Maybe this question is out of scope for this group but I try because I have
hard to inteprep the WEEE directive)

Thanks for your help!

If it is sold separate then it is not weee - cables are not within the scope.

It is only when it is sold as part of equipment that is in scope it is
considered potential weee.

Sorry for all this non-safety non-EMC stuff but here's another
environmental compliance question, regarding WEEE and the
crossed-out-wheelie-bin symbol and bundled accessories.

Suppose a product ships with an accessory. Do both the product and the
accessory require the WEEE symbol, or can the main product get it, and
the whole system is covered by that? If the answer is "maybe" or
"sometimes" then what criteria would you apply in determining the
