Re: [PSES] 230V 3-phase in Europe

2017-08-07 Thread Boštjan Glavič
Hi John,

I believe IT system in Norway is still in use since they declared national
difference to new hazard based EN 62368-1 standard with below text:

Norway: After the 3rd paragraph the following is added: Due to the IT power
system used, capacitors are required to be rated for the applicable
line-to-line voltage (230 V).

Best regards,
Bostjan

Many years ago, there were all sorts of systems still in use, even 230 V DC in
one part of London.

As far as I can find out, the Norwegian 230 V IT system is no longer in use.

Greetings.

Sorry if this is a stupid question (I’ve asked more than I’m allowed, I’m
sure), but in Europe, is there 230 volt 3-phase (230 volt line to line)? I
thought 230 volt single phase was derived from 380V 3-phase (230V from Line to
Neutral).

I see a 230V 3-phase saw with a CE marking and I was wondering if this product
can actually be used in Europe.

Thanks for any info. Don’t beat up the yank too much.

2017-08-07 Thread Ted Eckert
You don’t need to go to Wikipedia. Apparently, the laws of Australia are
permitted to contradict the laws of mathematics. Australian Prime Minister
Malcolm Turnbull has asked software companies to provide a backdoor into their
operating systems for the Australian government to use. Security experts
informed him that the laws of mathematics guaranteed that any backdoor open to
a government could be used by hackers. The PM seemed convinced that this was
incorrect.

He stated “The laws of Australia prevail in Australia, I can assure you of
that. The laws of mathematics are very commendable but the only law that
applies in Australia is the law of Australia.”

permit it!

To those who think otherwise I say “beware of what you wish for because it may

I see a 230V 3-phase saw with a CE marking and I was wondering if this product
can actually be used in Europe.

Thanks for any info. Don’t beat up the yank too much.

Re: [PSES] 230V 3-phase in Europe

2017-08-07 Thread John Woodgate
You are quite right; the household supply is 230/400V. I suspect that the
product description is wrong. 133/230 V isn’t used anywhere in the world, I
think.

Subject: [PSES] 230V 3-phase in Europe

2017-08-07 Thread Boštjan Glavič
Hi Brian,

As far as I know in Norway they use IT system with phase-phase voltage 230V.
They have no Neutral.

Best regards
Bostjan
