Re: [Emc-users] Copying an installation
I do recall we went through much more than expected just getting all that installed. And I don't have a complete list of all that was done. I did poke around again on this machine. Mesaflash says the card's there at 10.10.10.10. After launching LinuxCNC, the VFD does respond to commands just fine. I experimented with the FERROR value- it'll allow the coordinates to change significantly before throwing an error, but the axes will never move regardless. The 7i92 won't put out steps at all. I don't have any enable line on it. Danny On 5/22/2016 6:27 PM, andy pugh wrote: > On 22 May 2016 at 19:51, Danny Miller wrote: >> Any advice, folks? Re: [Emc-users] Linuxcnc forum
I am on the digest delivery method - it does cut down on the traffic - but it is kind of a FIFO Buffer that dumps a digest volume when the message size gets big enough to warrant sending it or when the last message reaches a certain age. Once a day - not! On May 24th I received 8 digests. Sometimes all it takes is someone being in a zombie frame of mind and replying to a digest instead of the user list proper. That single message will go out with the entire prior digest. The forums at linuxcnc.org are good, but many of us don't frequent them as much. Likewise there is a (unofficial) section over at CNCZone.com a site that is perhaps its own worst enemy. Then in real time are the Linuxcnc IRC channels which can be hit or miss at any given moment. All said I think the mailing list is still the best option, but that is just my opinion, worth exactly what you paid for it. Or, you can create a Gmail account, and have the mailing list messages sent there, where they will be conveniently sorted by thread. However, there is also a LinuxCNC forum here: https://forum.linuxcnc.org/ -- atp "A motorcycle is a bicycle with a pandemonium attachment and is designed for the especial use of mechanical geniuses, daredevils and lunatics." — George Fitch, Atlanta Constitution Newspaper, 1916 -- Mobile security can be enabling, not merely restricting. Almost Greg but not in your budget. Empire up in Wisc makes a controller that can handle motors with peak surges to 25 amps, but its fussy about its analog drive, very easily blown as the rheostat is at line voltage potential. I blew up 2 of them before I gave up and bought one of Jon's (Pico Systems) pwm servo amplifiers and built a separate 107 volt psu out of the 2kwa tranny from a phase linear dual 750 watt audio amp. Thats worked well enough, although Jon & I found it needed bigger toroids in the fwd circuit for my use, which I had on the shelf so no biggie. This has its own built in current limiter that has worked very well several times while one on them has been running the 1HP motor of my G0704. I think the best I can say of that driver is that if its properly setup, its bulletproof. Rated at 160 volts and 20 amps max, very linear response in comparison to the Empire driver, you won't need to do any linearity comp at all. Its one of those things that Just Works(TM) for me. > I > tried one of those wee little $20 Chinese ones with a 1+ HP, 110+ volt > treadmill motor.
