I also tried to prevent this move to happen with lowering Max Velocity slider
to zero (before pressing Stop), then warning show up: can't do that

Gene, haven't heard a lot from you recently, either - thought you were

There's been a few topics since then, but maybe not new. See a screenshot

Let me know if you get the image ok, it's the first time I'm trying out

No I am here but have been busy working on a EDM generator and other hardware,
it is coming fruition right now. I have a few ideas for development machine
start to run which is happening right now, hardware is OK and software is
running.

Well it seems to work I got something like a frying sound and machining half of
the time with shors and opens.

I detect the drop from openvoltage to discharge voltage but are not totally
sure where to put the limit. I assume it must be above the seat otherwise pulse
may be elongenated.

I will give outomotive oil a try to.

Nut allergy?

Open voltage is a little bit above 100 volt.

I used this I designed hardware and software.

Barely but I could hear the frying sound and could see voltage in the halscope
is at seat value about half of the time. Maybe the oil have become to dirty and
hide the sparks.

I had a 1:10 transformer and a 12V servo motor so I ended a little bit above
100 volt. Will try to find something else or wind myself to get 150 volt.

Yes below 12 volt current is turned off.

> the ratio of ignitions to attempts to ignite can be a measure of efficiency

I try to ignite until successful. Timer is reset then ignited detected by
voltage falling to ionization voltage then on and off times are counted. I
could measure time until ignited, open voltage, seat voltage, current.

Your help been really useful. Hopefully I will be able to provide useful
contribution to linuxcnc rather soon.

[Emc-users] Moving axis while paused

2016-06-26 Thread Danny Miller
Recently discovered this:

When paused, the axes can't be moved by the user.

While that sounds like a safe protection at first, that's actually a
critical problem. It is not uncommon to have to "fix" something
mid-run. In a few cases I've seen the CNC router pop freed pieces out
and they land on the target of a plunge. When that happens, the bit
plunged into it and you have an unbalanced chunk of wood free-spinning
on the bit.

The proper answer to that is to pause, stop the spindle, lift the Z
enough to get the debris off the spindle, return to where the bit left
off, restart spindle, and resume. But, like I say, manual control of
the axes is locked out and I can't fix it.

2016-06-26 Thread sam sokolik
take a look at the moveoff component. It is a 'jog while paused' work
around. (it actually works pretty darn good)

there are a few sample configs also
