Very.

That demo I posted only really needed a few HAL pins connected to
work, inconveniently.

Tx/Rx Labs in Houston has a press brake, and I'm pretty sure
it runs LinuxCNC (everything else there does). It is one of
the most amazing makerspaces in the world, but their web
site doesn't have a lot of detail you can look up.

You might try sending them an email through the web site.

I started the process to convert my far east 30" 3:1 tool to have an automated
back fence. I was going to use my ELS with the stepper motor driver to move
the fence. Adapt the software to handle a sequence of shear positions. Also
bend positions but include k factor as a option.

The plan was simply do the bending manually although adding control of a
hydraulic or pneumatic valve was something I thought about. Since this project
didn't need an X axis the pins could be repurposed to be the CAN bus channel.
With CANopen as an interface a larger PC could be used for setting up program
data or just plain control.

In either case. It's currently project #42.

I made up a GUI for one, for fun, as an exercise. You might have found
that on the forum.

It's an interesting example of a situation where LinuxCNC with no
actual G-code might be a good fit.

[Emc-users] running a press brake on linuxcnc

2020-06-12 Thread andrew beck
Hey guys

we are thinking about buying a 120 ton press brake with a dead control and
retrofitting it with linuxcnc.

I normally use delem controls on friends machines and ideally it would be
good to get something similar. but even if it was just a nc style of
brakepress we could deal with that.

I did a search and saw some threads on linuxcnc.org about it but nothing
that was actually working..

has anyone every retrofitted a pressbrake with linuxcnc?

just trying to see if it is possible and if anyone has done any work with
it already.

also if linuxcnc is not the tool for this has anyone ever used other
controls to retrofit a press brake. we would want full cnc control with
the back stop etc

regards

Andrew
